“This is called extortion”- Internet reacts as DJ Akademiks demands payment from Meek Mill for Diddy rumor source reveal

DJ Akademiks demanded payment from Meek Mill for revealing the source of the infamous rumor regarding Mill and Sean "Diddy" Combs and the internet went crazy. On Saturday, October 5, Akademiks TV released a tweet alongside a live-stream clip of DJ Akademiks claiming that he found out who was behind the rumors of Diddy having an explicit relationship with Mill.

Akademiks stressed that he found out the person responsible but wanted $100,000 from Meek before giving him the name. Back on September 23, Mill released a slew of tweets offering $100,000 to an investigative team that found out the person responsible for the rumors. Akademiks TV's tweet read:

"Dear Meek Mill Akademiks and his team of private investigators at the Akademy have discovered the individual linking you and Diddy after a 2 week investigation. Please wire the $100,000 to Akademiks bank account and the name of the individual linking you to Diddy will be revealed."

Social media users had a lot to say about DJ Akademiks' offer. One X user who went by @TheGaychel joked that Akademiks' proposition felt like extortion. The X user tweeted out:

"this is called extortion, you know that its against the law right? lol"

Similar reactions followed as people thought that the whole thing sounded like extortion. A few users even asked the podcaster to "be careful" as there was a likelihood for him to get into legal trouble and even be arrested. Here are a few X reactions to Akademiks' tweet:

Some people joked that in the end, Akademiks might simply reveal that the person behind the rumors was none other than himself.

Meek Mill offered $100,000 to investigate who was behind the rumors surrounding him and Diddy

Back in February of this year, Sean "Diddy" Combs' former collaborator Rodney “Lil Rod Madeit” Jones filed an SA lawsuit against the hip-hop mogul. In the lawsuit, Jones claimed that Diddy informed him about engaging in s*xual intercourse with two famous rappers whose names were redacted.

A footnote in the lawsuit identified one of those rappers as a Philadelphia Rapper who dated Nicki Minaj. This led a slew of people to suspect that Meek Mill was the one being mentioned in the lawsuit. Later in September, an explicit audio file began circulating on social media with a barrage of netizens claiming that the file showcased Diddy and Mill engaging in explicit activity.

Ever since then, Mill faced a barrage of online trolling aimed at his alleged association with Diddy. Mill himself took to X on September 18 and claimed that he was being hit with a smear campaign. He said in a tweet that his voice was so powerful as a "black man from the ghetto worldwide" that "they" wanted him gone.

DJ Akademiks' request for $100,000 from Meek Mill stems from a slew of tweets posted by Meek himself on September 23. The rapper tweeted:

"I wanna hire an investigative team 100k cash to find out every specific detail involving meek mill name to “Diddy” Case…. I also want them to look at who is powering the media involving “meek” anything to do with buddy! “Something not right” "

He added in a separate tweet:

"The streets know wassup with me thats not the case….We talking about business side ,somebody powering these bad campaigns🤷🏾‍♂️ with “meeek mill” again I got 100k for a thorough investigation of who’s powering and how exactly my name connect to this…"
