Model and television personality Amber Rose threw shade at people who did not listen to the Passionfruit hitmaker, that is, Drake's music, and the internet went wild. The model took to Instagram on Thursday, August 8 to announce:
"So we're all gonna act like Drake's music isn't the soundtrack of our lives... ok,"
The model also played Drizzy's 2016 track Controlla in the background to her post. Rose and Drizzy have had a complicated relationship in the past. The model was sampled in the rapper's 2016 track Faithful and has previously allegedly spent time together in the wine room at Prime 112, Miami in 2016. She has also previously used the rapper as an example of double standards in the music industry in 2015.
Social media users had a lot to say regarding Amber Rose's Instagram story. Netizens thought that the model was being "a little desperate" and even thought that she was using Drizzy for "clout". Users trolled Rose for not being relevant and some even criticized Drizzy's song catalog in response to the model. Here are a few Instagram reactions following Rose's statement:
A few social media users took offense at Amber Rose's recent support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and criticized her for her political leanings.
Amber Rose was name-dropped on Drake's 2016 track 'Faithful'
Back in 2016, Amber Rose and Drake were allegedly spotted spending time together in Miami. According to a 2016 Page Six article, the duo reportedly enjoyed a private dinner at night in the wine room at Prime 112. At the time, Rose also seemingly confirmed the meet-up in an Instagram story.
In Amber's story, Drizzy was seen dancing to his verse on a remixed version of Fetty Wap's My Way. In the same year, Hollywood Life also reported that the duo were spotted at the Soho Beach House. Despite many rumors surrounding their relationship, neither Drake nor Amber Rose has ever confirmed any sort of romantic relationship.
Drake has previously included Rose in his music. In 2016, he sampled her for the track Faithful, featuring dvsn and Pimp C, from his hit fourth studio album Views. Drizzy also name-dropped Amber in the 2018 track dedicated to his mother, Sandra's Rose. Drizzy rapped on the track:
"My mother had a flower shop, but I was Sandra's rose, Two girls that I rope like Indiana Jones, I make them h**s walk together like I'm Amber Rose,"
According to Hot New Hip Hop, Rose criticized media outlets in 2015 for labeling her as a "s**t" for her links to men, while pointing out that men like Drake were not labeled so and instead Drizzy's escapades were featured as being part of his "love life", thereby pointing out the double standards in the industry.
More recently, Amber Rose went viral for proclaiming her support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. The model even delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention on Monday, July 15.
