"Bad Boy started in our basement in Scarsdale, NY.": Misa Hylton shares how Diddy started his record label

Misa Hylton and Sean Combs began dating in the early 90s when she was a budding stylist, and Combs had joined Uptown Records. They split after their son was born in 1993, the same year Combs was fired from Uptown Records.

In an Instagram post, Misa mentioned that Andre Harrell told Combs, "there cannot be two kings in a castle," and he was right. In a 2022 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Combs said his passion led to misunderstandings of workplace policies, and getting fired was one of the best things that happened to him.

Misa Hylton shared in her Instagram post that Sean Combs was scared at the time given the couple had a child on the way and they had moved into a new home. Misa recalled how the rapper asked her to call Andre Harell to have his job back but the Uptown Records owner did not budge from his decision which Misa compared to the behavior of a father.

Misa Hylton stated in her post that she encouraged Diddy to be able to make it by believing that he was a mastermind and that he had to do what he had been doing at Uptown Records.

Talking about her belief in the rapper, Misa Hylton mentioned:

"Bad Boy started in our basement in Scarsdale, NY. Thanks to the legendary Bert Padell."

Sean Combs ex-girlfriend mentioned the moment she remembers clearly wherein the couple were at the palladium and Diddy was going to give Flex the record of Bad Boys songs. She called waiting at the bar for the record to be played and Flava in your Ear by Craig Mack was played.

Miss stated that everyone went crazy and Diddy looked at her and exclaimed "you see this sh*t Mees!!"

While the rapper's ex-girlfriend and mother to his oldest child Misa Hylton told the story about Diddy's hard work behind establishing Bad Boy Records, the rapper is currently facing multiple lawsuits based on s*xual violence among other charges.
