Ariana Grande's dating life began about the same time as her career in the entertainment industry, with her first known boyfriend being Graham Phillips - her co-star from the sets of the musical 13.
However, it was not until Grande met Dalton Gomez that the singer-songwriter decided to tie the knot for the first time in her life. Ari started dating the real estate agent in early 2020, got married to him roughly a year later, and filed for divorce in September 2023.
Below, we take a look at the timeline of their relationship, right from their early dating days to their separation.
Ariana Grande was first spotted with Dalton Gomez in public in February 2020
In February 2020, TMZ published footage of Ariana Grande kissing a man in a bar booth in Northridge, California. Around that time, rumors of Grande dating the American rapper, Mikey Foster, had been circulating. However, the footage invalidated them all, with the confirmation of a new "mystery man" in the Positions singer's life.
A month later, People magazine revealed that Ari had been dating the luxury real estate agent, Dalton Gomez, privately, since January. Gomez was also revealed as the guy Grande was seen kissing in the California bar in February.
In May 2020, amidst the peak of the COVID lockdown, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber released their collaborative work - Stuck With U - with Gomez making a cameo appearance with the singer-songwriter in its music video.
Towards the end of the video, Ariana Grande and Gomez can be seen dancing together, with the singer twirling and hugging him. The next month, Ari celebrated her 27th birthday by uploading a dump of photos on a since-deleted Instagram post, one of which included a picture of the couple.
The Thank U, Next singer also made a birthday post on Instagram to wish Dalton in August 2020, captioning the post, that is now deleted, as:
"Hbd to my baby my best friend my fav part of all the days :) i love u"
In December 2020, when Ariana's Netflix documentary, Excuse Me, I Love You was about to come up, the singer announced her engagement with Gomez, receiving love and good wishes from close friends and family online, including her mother, Joan Grande.
This was Ariana's second engagement, with her first one being with Pete Davidson in 2018; the couple called it off as they decided to end the relationship several months later.
Five months later, on May 15, 2021, Gomez and Grande got married in an intimate wedding ceremony at her Montecito home in California, with the Yes, And? singer wearing a sleek white dress designed by Vera Wang. Vogue had covered the wedding and had revealed that both Ariana Grande's parents accompanied her down the aisle on the wedding.
Two months after their wedding, the newlyweds celebrated their first vacation in Amsterdam in July. Later that month, they also attended a Hollywood Bowl concert of Christina Aguilera with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, along with several friends.
Dalton also celebrated Thanksgiving with Ari's parents and family that year, with the singer sharing glimpses of it in a since-deleted Instagram post.
In February 2022, Ariana Grande had with her husband, what appeared to be, an intimate date night. The Break Free singer had dressed herself in a sheer black slit dress for the occasion.
In May of the following year, Grande celebrated her second anniversary with her husband with an Instagram post, now deleted, that she captioned "I love him so".
However, two months later, People confirmed that the couple had separated, with long-distance marriage appearing to be the main reason behind their split. It was also in July that the outlet's sources revealed the news of Ari dating her Wicked co-star, Ethan Slater.
A Page Six source confirmed the news, saying:
"They came to this decision together. They were having problems before January, but they want to remain best friends."
In September 2023, Grande officially filed for divorce from Gomez, settling it in just three weeks, with the Love Me Harder singer paying him $1.25 million as an upfront spousal support amount. Six months later, in March 2024, the couple's divorce was finalized.
Both Grande and Gomez seemed to move on from their marriage quite quickly, with Ari dating Slater and Gomez dating American actress, Maika Monroe.
