Rihanna's Savage X Fenty: Inception, milestones, and other details explored

Savage X Fenty was established by Rihanna in 2018 and the brand aims to celebrate confidence and individuality with its range of sleepwear and lingerie. RiRi's message on the brand's website reads:

"Savage X means making your own rules and expressing your mood, character and style for you—not for someone else.”

According to a report by Forbes, dated June 2021, RiRi's brand hit a milestone in 2021 by raising a $115 million Series B funding round at a valuation of $1 billion. Private equity firm L Catterton helped the brand secure the deal as a retail expansion of Savage X Fenty was in the works at the time. As per a Forbes report dated January 2022, Savage X Fenty announced a funding round of $125 million led by Neuberger Berman around the time the brand opened its first store.

According to the co-presidents of Savage X Fenty, Christiane Pendarvis, and Natalie Guzman, the brand has seen a revenue CAGR (Compounded Annual Growth Rate) of 150% every year since its establishment as a direct-to-consumer business in 2018.

In its February 2021 report, Forbes estimated that Savage X Fenty did over $600 million in sales in 2019 and that Rihanna's stake in the venture was an estimated $375 million at the time. However, in June 2023, RiRi stepped down as the chief executive of Savage X Fenty and named Hillary Super as the CEO of the brand. In her statement announcing Hillary as the new CEO, Rihanna mentioned:

“It’s been beautiful to see our vision for Savage X Fenty impact the industry at such an incredible magnitude over the last five years. This is just the beginning for us, and we’re going to continue to expand in ways that always connect with the consumer."

According to Celebrity Networth, Rihanna's net worth amounts to $1.4 billion and her salary every year is $70 million. Considered to be the richest female musician since 2021, Taylor Swift surpassed RiRi in the category in 2023.
