Tyla shuts down rumor of her brother Tyrese charging $500 from fans to pose with his sister's Grammy award at a meet-and-greet

On July 31, 2024, X user @Zweli_Thixo alleged that singer Tyla's brother charges $500 from fans to get them a picture with his sister. According to the tweet, the singer's 17-year-old brother, Tyrese, became very popular in his school since his sister became a celebrity.

As per the tweet, Tyrese organized a meet-and-greet wherein he brought his sister's Grammy award and got people to pay for seeing him and taking pictures with the trophy.

Tyla was quick to dispense the rumor and reposted the same with her response, which was a GIF of a girl laughing.

The exchange between the X user and the singer garnered reactions from fans wherein most of them thought that the singer's brother was a good entrepreneur.

While Tyla has dispensed rumors of her brother using her fame or Grammy award to earn money, the singer made headlines with her win at the 2024 Grammy in February 2024. She became the first-ever to win the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance for Water. The singer was nominated alongside Burna Boy, Davido, ASAKE, and Olamide.

In her winning speech at the Grammy Awards, the singer stated that she never thought she'd win a Grammy at 22 years old. She also thanked the Recording Academy for introducing the Best African Music Performance category, stating that it is important.

The singer won two Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards on June 30, 2024. She won the award for the Best International Act category and Best New Artist category. The singer was nominated for four awards, including Best Female R&B/ Pop Artist.

Stating that she did not prepare a winning speech, Tyla mentioned at the 2024 BET Awards she wanted to say thank you to her Tygers (the singer's fandom name), her team, and her family. She also expressed her gratitude to BET for pushing the culture and stated,

While fans of the singer have been excited about her streak of wins, they were disappointed when the singer announced she was canceling her Tyla Tour owing to a long-standing injury. The tour was to begin on March 21, 2024, in Oslo with eight international stops. However, the singer canceled her North American concert dates and announced that she would reschedule the dates for her shows in Europe and the U.K.

On March 7, 2024, the singer published a detailed post on Instagram stating that she had been suffering from an injury for the past year and that it had worsened. She also talked about feeling frustrated with the situation and that she and her team are preparing for the singer to return to the stage by summer.
