Everything we know about Tyler The Creator's Chromakopia album
On October 17, 2024, Tyler The Creator uploaded the first look and official teaser trailer for his seventh studio album, Chromakopia. The title of his new LP is a portmanteau, mixing the words Chroma, which means "Color," and Kopia, which is suggested to be a Polish term meaning "copy."
The trailer alludes to the importance of color playing a primary theme in the rapper's upcoming project, with the teaser opening with a shot of a group of soldiers marching alongside Tyler The Creator, wearing a dark mask, in the middle of a desert.
Almost the entirety of Chromakopia's trailer is shot in a colorless Sepia tone, building a sense of unease as Tyler and the group of soldiers march into a large shipping container, which has the title of the album spray painted on the side.
Immediately after the group enters the cargo box, a hand appears from behind the camera and presses down on a detonator, seemingly blowing up everyone inside the shipping container. With the explosion, the trailer bursts into full color for a few seconds before the words "Chromakopia" appear on the screen.
The rapper sports a new hairstyle, which can be a reference to the "devil horns" included on the album's artwork, alluding to an album that would likely revolve around darker themes.
Last Friday, October 18, a day after the trailer dropped, Tyler The Creator released the lead single for project ST. CHROMA, which was revealed to be the track viewers could hear playing in the background of Chromakopia's teaser.
The track features a guest performance from Daniel Caesar, set to perform at this year's Camp Flog Gnaw Festival, with fans claiming ST. CHROMA includes adlib and vocals from Tyler's close friend and fellow Odd Future member Frank Ocean.
"Calm down, sit still, that's one mill' for each wheel / Top ten, big deal, how the f--k he do that? What the f--k I look like? Get the f--k up out him way / Hawthorne is where I'm from, 'nother planet where him stay / Fifteen, cash for that new Ford, I had guap since nineteen" - Tyler The Creator raps on 'ST. CHROMA.'"
Although not much is known about the potential features and tracklist for Tyler The Creator's upcoming Chromakopia album, the rapper has confirmed physical and merch bundles for the LP are currently listed for pre-sale on his official website.
