Scantlin was stopped in the middle of the road for a traffic violation while he was driving in his Humme H2. Notably, a warrant was already issued under his name after he was alleged of carrying a weapon inside the airport and was being searched by the authorities for the same. Although he was told to come out of the vehicle, he reportedly refused to do the same.

Despite being repeatedly told by the police officers, Wes Scantlin remained inside the car. The SWAT team had to be called to the spot, who broke the car window and used pepper spray on him. He was eventually transported to the hospital so his eyes could be flushed out.
