What are Alprazolam and Promethazine? Rich Homie Quan autopsy report explored as rapper's cause of death is revealed

Rich Homie Quan's cause of death was recently made official. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office disclosed in a report on October 1, 2024, that he died from an accidental drug overdose on September 5 and traces of drugs like fentanyl, alprazolam, and promethazine were discovered in his body, as per People magazine.

For the unversed, alprazolam refers to a medication that is useful for treating anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and anxiety. It can lead to complications such as slow breathing. It can be consumed by the mouth and is restricted from purchase outside the U.S.

On the other hand, promethazine is a sedative that can work as a treatment for itching and sneezing. It additionally helps to stop motion sickness, vomiting, and nausea.

Furthermore, the report also stated that there were no trauma signs in his body while it was being examined. Notably, an investigation was launched by the authorities after the rapper's demise, starting with an autopsy.


Rich Homie Quan was found at his home by his brother: Incident report details explained

According to People magazine, an incident report obtained by the publication stated that Rich's brother, Andre Munford, first found him sleeping on the kitchen floor with food in his mouth in the early hours of the morning. Reportedly, Rich's brother immediately took him to the couch. A few hours later, a woman, later revealed to be Rich's girlfriend, Amber Williams, reportedly contacted the cops when she noticed that the rapper was not breathing.

The medical examiner's office claimed last month that the circumstances leading to Rich Homie Quan's death shall be revealed later since the completion of laboratory studies and microscopic examination of tissue slides were pending.

An incident report was revealed by the Atlanta Police Department around six days after Rich's death. The report included the details from the officer who first responded to a 911 call made by Amber Williams. The officer stated that he did not discover any signs of foul play. He further stated:

"Mr. Lamar did not appear to be alert, conscious, or breathing. Ms. Williams advised me that Mr. Lamar did not have any medical or underlying diseases."

A recording of the call was also acquired by TMZ, during which Williams told the dispatchers that Rich Homie Quan was unresponsive on the couch ever since he went to sleep the previous night. Williams had found the rapper on the couch in the morning and believing he was just soundly asleep, she covered him with a blanket and then went to drop their son to school. After returning home, she discovered that Rich was not breathing and also witnessed foam coming out of his mouth, leading her to call 911 in tears. Williams was told by the dispatcher to lay Rich flat on his back but when the paramedics arrived at the spot shortly after, they pronounced him dead.


Rich Homie Quan's celebration of life was held in Georgia last month

Rich Homie Quan, also known as Dequantes Devontay Lamar, was laid to rest following an event organized in his honor on September 17, 2024. The event, which was a celebration of life, was attended by his fans alongside close friends and family members. The celebration of life event was held at the Georgia-based World Changers Church International and was also available for livestreaming.

Rich Homie Quan's father Corey Lamar paid tribute through an obituary, saying that his life changed when he first held Rich. Corey also stated:

"I knew then that I had a purpose in life… Thank you for being the most amazing human being and most importantly, I think God for allowing me to be your dad. Until we meet again – rest in peace son."

The obituary also praised Rich's work over the years, describing him as a passionate individual, adding that he used to play baseball on a few occasions, developing his skills while batting. The obituary addressed his flawlessness in baseball by saying:

"Over the years, he played every position on the field, gaining a well-rounded understanding of the game. When he wasn't on the diamond, Quan was either listening to music or creating his own."

Rich Homie Quan's mother Tammie Morgan-Chism said in the obituary that she was grateful for being able to share the world with him. Rich was 34 years old at the time of his death. He was well-known for his songs such as Type of Way and Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh), and had released one major album, titled Rich as in Spirit.
