Ariana Grande is just as health-conscious as she's melodious. Her daily diet mainly includes smoothies, salads, brown rice, and stir-fried veggies.
She left behind her non-vegetarian lifestyle to adopt veganism in 2013. Talking to V Magazine in the same year, the singer-songwriter revealed how she had made up her mind about going vegan after watching the 2011 documentary, Forks Over Knives.
Grande balances her diet with simple workouts including lunges of several kinds. She also tries to get in 12,000 steps a day, as instructed by her trainer.
Ariana Grande's everyday diet explored
Ever since Ariana Grande turned vegan, here's what her diet looks like:
The singer-songwriter usually starts her days with smoothies, which are complemented with oatmeal every now and then. Harley Pasternak, her trainer, shared in a 2017 PopSugar interview:
"She makes a lot of my smoothies, so for the body-reset smoothies she'll make the white smoothie, red smoothie, and green smoothie"
Pasternak's red smoothies contain raspberries, blueberries, oranges, flax seeds, and vanilla protein powder to curb sweet cravings in a healthy manner. The green smoothies, on the other hand, are a blend of avocado, spinach, grapes, pears, and lime juice.
Ariana Grande's lunches are mainly salads, which she often complements with either a soy latte or tea. Cashews, kale, avocado, and teriyaki are some of the constants in her salads, but as her trainer recommends, the 30-year-old keeps switching it up by adding seasonal fruits and veggies.
Ariana is also a hardcore tofu fan. Her dinners are usually made up of stir-fried tofu with broccoli and mushrooms on the side. The Thank U, Next singer is also known to add stir-fried veggies to a bowl of brown rice frequently for dinner.
Ariana is a fan of Japanese food and strawberries
Despite being Italian, Ariana Grande's favorite cuisine happens to be Japanese. In a 2011 Q&A with a Twitter fan, the singer-songwriter wrote: "I love Japanese food! You?"
Pasternak told Glamour in 2015 that the singer-songwriter had retained her love of Japanese food even after turning vegan, further saying:
"She loves daikon, lotus, adzuki beans—almost like a macrobiotic Japanese [diet]"
For snacking, Ariana Grande heavily depends on berries. She enjoys eating all kinds of berries, with strawberries being her favorite. Back when the Wicked actress used X (formerly Twitter), she had once revealed in a tweet:
"I've had at least five strawberries a day since I can remember. They're my favorite food!"
Besides berries, the singer-songwriter also keeps nuts and coconut water handy with her as snacking options.
Ariana Grande has talked about veganism and a healthy lifestyle since she was 20
Around the time Ariana Grande switched to veganism in 2013, the Bang Bang singer also lost a lot of weight, which sparked controversies about it being the central motivation behind Grande's shift. Opening up about it in a Tumblr post in 2013, Ariana Grande revealed:
"I was happy with the way I was before and I'm still happy now! Just healthier. I'm eating as much as I was before, the content has just changed."
She also talked about how turning vegan was more about an overall healthier lifestyle, further saying:
"I just wasn't taking care of myself at all. I was making really poor choices. This is about making sure the foods you put in your body will nourish you and be put to good use. The reason why I lost so much weight as I did is because I used to live on junk food. So I drastically changed my eating habits, started excising daily, and I'm all around a healthier me."
Ariana Grande, who has Italian roots, was raised on a heavily meat-based diet in a 2018 interview with The Mirror, the singer-songwriter, who had gone vegan years ago, claimed that she didn't have anything to miss. The we can't be friends singer further said:
"I was raised on meat and cheese, so I've had enough for anyone's normal lifespan."
Grande was also pushed in the direction of veganism because of her love for animals. The singer-songwriter also told The Mirror:
"I love animals more than I love most people, not kidding. But I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-round happier person."
And while being vegan in 2018 didn't exactly make it easy for Ariana Grande to dine out, she preferred to stick to fruits, veggies, and salads when outdoors and would complete her meal at home later.
