Nicki Minaj has taken the world of rap by storm from the moment she stepped into it. During her almost two decades in the rap industry, Minaj has been nominated as the best female hip-hop artist at the BET Awards 12 times, out of which she has won eight, more than any other female rapper.

In 2023, Nicki Minaj also became the first self-named female operator in the history of Call of Duty. Minaj's operator was introduced in the royal counterpart of its 2022 video game - Modern Warfare II - in July 2023.

The other hip-hop artists who joined Minaj in the game in 2023 included Snoop Dogg and 21 Savage.

Nicki Minaj's first appearance in the Call of Duty universe happened before the launch of her character in Modern Warfare II. In October 2022, the video game dropped a trailer for its upcoming installation that featured Lil' Baby and Kane Brown.

Minaj had a cameo in the commercial, with just one line in it:

"Pull up with the Barbz/Superheroes, no capes."

The Hey Mama rapper was dressed in a camo-printed short skirt, with her signature Barbie pendant around her neck.

Eight months after the release of Modern Warfare II, the video game celebrated 50 years of hip-hop in July by launching playable characters of Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, and 21 Savage.

While it was Snoop Dogg's second time in the game, Minaj and 21 Savage were debuting as playable characters in the video game for the first time. Their playable operators joined the royal counterpart of the video game, Warzone 2.0.

Nicki Minaj's appearance in the game was inspired by her alter ego, Red Ruby Da Sleeze, which, alongside Barbie's release, led to fans getting obsessed with pink in 2022. In tune with it, Minaj's character has pink hair and a pink assault rifle.

The Starships rapper has also given her voice to the comical phrases that accompany her character in the game.

These phrases include, "Body bagged them," "Bomb drones up," and the classic, "Check fire you 'bout to get on the queen's bad side." XXL Mag reported that her operator bundle in the game was worth 2,400 COD points.

According to Billboard, Modern Warfare II became the best-selling video game in the US in 2022, making $10 million in sales within the first 10 days. It also became the fastest-selling series of Call of Duty just three days after its launch.

Cardi B was allegedly offered the Call of Duty deal before Nicki Minaj

While Nicki Minaj became the first female celebrity to appear on Call of Duty, the deal was allegedly first offered to her long-time rival, Cardi B. Shortly before the video game dropped its ad for Modern Warfare II, the Bodak Yellow rapper tweeted about losing a "multi-million dollar" COD deal because of her court case.

The case Cardi B was referring to involved two misdemeanor charges against her from 2018. According to XXL Magazine, the charges involved the assault of third degree and reckless endangerment of second degree in the Queen's strip club in New York.

According to the magazine, Cardi B was accused of throwing a champagne bottle and a hookah at the bartenders of the club. She also ordered people to assault the women. The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to both charges and avoided jail time minutely but had to serve community service for 15 days.

The case that prohibited her from taking the COD deal led to the role landing in Nicki Minaj's lap next, who appeared in the video game the following year.
