Last month, a TikTok user, with the handle @gracefulshift, shared a video on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ life on Star Island, Miami, that has now gone viral across social media platforms. In it, she shares how Diddy’s private island was just a short drive away from an island full of shipping containers, alleging it might have been a route for s*x trafficking.
“What are the odds that this man [Diddy] lives on this island [Star Island] that’s just a short walk away from this entire platform full of shipping containers? Come on. What do Diddy and shipping containers have in common?” the TikToker questioned.
She further pointed out that it was quite brave for the disgraced hip-hop mogul to live on a private island that was so close to the bigger Dodge Island housing multiple shipping containers, that too when he had to navigate through the U.S. Coast Guards to reach there.
The TikTok user also shared how it 'kinda blows her mind' that any celebrity would live on an island this close to a cargo port, which should have been the “last place.” She also claimed that it was this residence in Miami that was raided by the feds earlier this year.
The video has garnered significant traction online, with nearly 6,500 reactions, 595 comments, and 2,121 shares, and circulated across other platforms, at the time of writing.
All you need to know about Diddy’s home in Star Island
In 2003, Sean Combs purchased a mansion on Star Island in South Florida, worth $14.5 million, from Tommy Mottola. It is a nine-bedroom and twelve-bathroom waterfront property comprising cabana-style pool houses, a luxurious spa, and multiple swimming pools, all spanning 14,800 square feet.
He bought another house next door in 2021, for $35 million at 1 Star Island (address of the estate), which was earlier owned by Cuban-American singer, actress, and businesswoman Gloria Estefan and her musician-producer husband Emilio. It is spread across 1.3 acres and comprises an 8,000-square-foot mansion with six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, along with an outdoor oasis.
Notably, Diddy was known to host an annual New Year’s Eve party on his Star Island property, which often had a celebrity guest list, including the likes of DJ Khaled, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Future, Scottie Pippen, and Jermaine Dupri, among others.
It was this Star Island estate that was raided in March by federal agents, as part of an ongoing Homeland Security Investigation into human trafficking and other charges, as mentioned in multiple lawsuits against Diddy. According to the recent grand jury indictment of the rapper, it was from here that they seized 1000 bottles of baby oil, lubricants, guns, ammunition, and more “freak off” supplies.
In fact, before his arrest and federal indictment, Diddy paid off an $18.8 million mortgage on his Star Island mansion, now valued at $48.5 million. Later, as part of Combs’ $50 million bond package, his legal counsel offered up the Miami home, alongside six passports of him and his family members. His lead defense attorney, Marc Agnifilo, defined it as a move to “build trust” in front of the court.
However, his bail was denied twice, as the prosecutors argued that Combs was still a “serious flight risk” and could tamper with the investigation or cause other troubles, including becoming violent.
Diddy has been charged with three felony counts—racketeering conspiracy, s*x trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He is currently being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center on “procedural” suicide watch, awaiting trial.
For the unversed, Star Island is spread across 86 acres and is a “gated community” with high-profile and private security. The man-made island has 55 acres of properties and is home to many celebrities, including Rick Ross, Ken Griffin, Naomi Campbell’s billionaire boyfriend Vlasdislab Doronin, and others.
Some of its previous residents include Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez, Don Johnson, Vanilla Ice, Lisa and Donald Pliner, Trudy and Paul Cejas, Rosie O’Donnell, and Shaquille O’Neal. It is accessible to the mainland, MacArthur Causeway, via a bridge or boat, and is close to downtown Miami and the international airport.
