Dean Ween has deep mental and spiritual health issues, which has now led to the rock band Ween canceling its upcoming tour dates and announcing that it will stop performing for the foreseeable future. The band announced the decision via a post on their official Instagram page on August 29, 2024, stating:

"It is with sincere regret and heavy hearts that Ween must make the decision to step away from the stage for the foreseeable future. This includes next month’s sold-out Chocolate and Cheese 30th Anniversary show at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia."

The statement continues:

"Despite three great shows this summer, it’s become clear that touring and performing is too taxing on Deaner’s mental health to continue. As always, we thank you for the love, dedication and ongoing support."

While no mention of refunds has been made in the statement, refunds are generally processed at the point of purchase within 30 days in the case of authorized vendors. For those who bought tickets from third-party resellers such as Vivid Seats and StubHub, the respective third-party vendor will need to be contacted for refund details.

More on Dean Ween's mental health amidst rock band Ween's tour cancelation

Dean Ween first announced his ongoing mental health issues back in March, with an Instagram post that announced the cancelation of Ween's show dates in March and April, stating:

"For the majority of my life have been blessed enough to have a career doing the thing that I love the most. This privilege has never been lost on me. The fact that the music reaches other people and means so much to them is something I never take granted for and for which I am truly grateful all of the time, every time we perform."

Dean Ween continued:

At this moment in time though I need to step away from performing live in order to preserve my mental and spiritual well being, and instead focus on myself and loved ones. I know this will come as a disappointment and with great inconvenience to many people who bought tickets and made travel plans, and for this I sincerely apologize."

The singer ended his statement by saying he was looking forward to returning to performing in the near future with renewed energy and a sense of inspiration. The singer did briefly return on tour to perform in the early days of August in the US with the rest of the band Ween.

However, the band once again canceled their shows on August 5, 2024, with a statement that apologized for the cancelation and the inconvenience that it caused.

Now the band has ceased touring for the foreseeable future due to the reasons mentioned above. The upcoming hiatus is set to be the band's second break in a decade, with the band having previously broken up in 2011 due to troubles within the band. The band reformed in 2015 after a four-year hiatus.

During those four years, Dean Ween went on to form a group known as The Dean Ween Group as well as reform a band called MoistBoyz. Ween as a band released their last studio album, La Cucaracha, on October 23, 2007. The album charted at number 63 on the Billboard 200 album chart. More recently, the band released a deluxe edition of Chocolate and Cheese, their debut album, on August 2, 2024.
