YouTuber Brandon Buckingham responded online to DJ Akademiks' recent diss, accusing him of exploiting rapper YBC Dul’s death for views. YBC Dul, whose real name was Abdul Vicks, was fatally shot on August 26, 2024. The day before the shooting, Buckingham had posted an interview with the rapper, where YBC Dul discussed life in Philadelphia amidst gang wars and his notorious act of digging up a rival's grave.
Following his death, DJ Akademiks shared his discontentment with Brandon Buckingham online by calling the interviewer a “white boy voyeuristic” type and claimed that Buckingham did not care for “the culture” of hip-hop.
Since then, Brandon Buckingham has taken to social media to relentlessly blast DJ Akademiks.
What did Brandon Buckingham say? Details revealed as YouTuber addresses DJ Akademiks’ comment
In a tweet, Buckingham called DJ Akademiks a “fat drunk p**sy” and accused the latter of abusing women. He wrote online:
“DJ Akademiks is really a fat drunk p**sy for running right to his little stream after dul died to say im not for the culture, im not into hip hop and im voyeuristic when his woman beating bald head a*s sits on a computer all day and is afraid to go into any hood anywhere. Stay inside and keep talking s**t from the comfort of your home. we are both civilians and i have 10 times the heart as your bi*ch a*s.”
Buckingham also posted a video titled My Thoughts on the Passing of Ybcdul on his The Buckingham Show YouTube channel. He told followers of YBC Dul that the interview with the rapper was filmed on May 13, 2024, not on the day of the singer’s passing or the day before. Buckingham then added:
“He approved every part of that video [the interview]. I sent it to him multiple times. I took out everything he wanted me to take out. There is nothing in that video that Dul did not want. And the last time I spoke to Dul on the phone, 19 hours before he passed away, he was saying he loved the video and that he was so excited to see how many views it was going to get.”
Brandon Buckingham also shared in the video that YBC Dul had “money on his head” and that he could not be blamed for the singer’s passing. Buckingham also clarified in the video that his latest video regarding Dul was not monetized.
DJ Akademiks’ statement against Buckingham comes as a surprise, as he was accused of exploiting the death of rapper Kay Flock’s murder. In 2022, music video director Spike Tarantino brought forth the aforementioned allegations against the live streamer, as he had never spoken about Flock’s music until he passed away.
Akademiks had not addressed Buckingham’s latest statement at the time of writing this article.
Meanwhile, no suspects in the death of YBC Dul were caught at the time of writing this article.
