Well-known singer Eddie Levert's daughter Ryan Levert has recently died at the age of 22. As per RnB Talk Show, Ryan was struggling with Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease, which eventually led to her demise.
According to Nations News, Eddie Levert's family released a statement describing Ryan as a "shining light" in their lives. They further said that Ryan's "warmth, kindness, and strength" will always remain within them. Although Ryan maintained a distance from the spotlight, she kept in touch with everyone through Instagram.
Ryan was born to Eddie's late wife, Martha Levert. The couple had two more children, Gerald and Sean, who died in 2006 and 2008, respectively.
Eddie Levert's sons and their cause of death explained
A report by News Net 5 stated that Gerald was discovered dead by his cousin at his residence in Newbury in November 2006. According to The Washington Post, an autopsy test revealed that Gerald died of acute intoxication, emerging out of a combination of prescription narcotics and drugs.
On the other hand, Eddie Levert's second son, Sean, was sentenced to a year and ten months in 2008 after he could not pay child support worth $85,000, as per Billboard. He suffered a medical emergency and was transported to the Lutheran Hospital, where he died an hour after being admitted.
According to Cleveland.com, Sean was taking medicines to treat his anxiety issues. The outlet stated that Sean was battling a few health problems, like sarcoidosis, high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. The claim was made by county coroner Frank Miller, who mentioned that the combination of Xanax withdrawal and Sean's health issues led to his death.
Eddie appeared for an interview with Tony Cox of News & Notes to speak on his book I Got Your Back in 2007. While speaking to Eddie, Cox mentioned his performance at the BET Awards that year, which was a tribute to Gerald.
Eddie Levert described the performance as an emotional moment and referred to Gerald by saying:
"He is sorely missed by myself and – I'm pretty sure a lot of his fans and the – a lot of my peers are very sympathetic and very, you know, they are standing by me and they all come up and say, how are you really doing?"
Compared to Gerald and Sean, Ryan kept her personal and professional life out of the limelight. However, she appeared alongside her father on a podcast titled The Levert Opinion, which garnered a lot of attention for the duo's sense of humor, according to Bck Online. She was even active on Instagram, with around 5,929 followers.
Netizens took to social media platforms to pay tribute to Ryan and send their condolences. Other details on Ryan's battle with Lupus are currently awaited. Her family is yet to share information related to her funeral.
