Rapper and politician, Shyne, recently responded to the viral footage of Diddy reportedly assaulting Cassie Ventura. The duo share a connection due to the 1999 shooting incident inside the Times Square-based Club New York. According to the Washington Post, this incident resulted in 10 years of imprisonment for Shyne in 2001.
Shyne shared an Instagram post on May 20, 2024, where he started by writing:
"I vehemently denounce the repugnant behavior of Sean Diddy Combs captured on the video in which he is seen physically assaulting Mrs Cassie Ventura-Fine. There is no place for Violence against Women anywhere on the planet."
Moses added that he is not willing to stay linked with people like Diddy as the "next Prime Minister of Belize." The post stated towards the end:
"My prayers are with Cassie and all the other victims who have come forward with horrendous allegations against Mr Combs."
Shyne is also known as Moses Michael Levi Barrow. He is renowned for his musical and political career over the years. His self-titled album came out back in 2000 and was initially part of a music label called Bad Boy Records. Furthermore, Moses even served as the Belize Music and Goodwill Ambassador in 2010.

Shyne's connection with Diddy: The former had to spend time in prison due to involvement in shooting incident in 1999
As mentioned, Shyne was sentenced to 10 years back in 2001 and he has addressed the issue a few times in the past. HotNewHipHop reported that the shooting incident resulted from a dispute between Sean Love Combs and a Brooklyn thug named Matthew Allen aka Scar.
Former NYPD Detective and now a private investigator, Derrick Parker, shed light on the old story and told the New York Post on March 20, 2024:
“The story was that Puff (then known as Puff Diddy) was flossing, which is what they call someone on the streets who’s throwing money around and acting like a big shot. Scar felt disrespected because he felt he was as important as Puff and words were exchanged and then bullets started flying.”
The altercation took a worse turn since it led to physical violence alongside gunshots being fired inside Club New York. Three people were left injured in the incident and although Diddy and Moses were charged with using guns inside the place, the duo reportedly denied the accusations.
However, some eyewitnesses allegedly stated that Shyne was the one who shot at the three injured people. As per Billboard, the court eventually imposed charges of assault and reckless endangerment along with weapon possession on Moses in 2001. While Diddy was also accused of similar charges, he managed to escape any kind of punishment and Moses broke all links with the artist.
Back in 2020, Moses appeared on The Fat Joe Show, saying that the beef started from the other side (Diddy) and he did not have any problem with him. He said that he was scared for his life and spoke up on the reason behind using the gun.
"I'm thinking about saving my life. I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six. I think for [Puff], he's a corporation. And he's thinking about the corporation. So obviously, something like that affects the corporation terribly. At the time, I was thinking life or death."
Shyne also revealed that he has sorted out his issues with Diddy and the former once told him that "he could have handled it better". However, Diddy could not do the same since he was under pressure from the legal team who were reportedly responsible for Shyne's suffering at the time.
"That's exactly what Benjamin Brafman, Johnnie Cochran and the entire "Dream Team", that was their position. Cause Puff is a corporation, he's a half-a-billion dollar corporation. So nobody is gonna sacrifice the corporation for anyone else," Shyne added.
Diddy was criticized by Cassie Ventura's legal team for his apology video
Sean Love Combs took to his Instagram page on May 18, 2024, where he apologized through a video for the things that were featured in the assault video. He started by saying:
"It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f*cked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I'm disgusted."
While the video started trending everywhere, Meredith Firetog, who represents Cassie Ventura, told Page Six that Sean was speaking about himself in the video instead of the ones he hurt over the years. On May 19, 2024, Meredith criticized Sean for denying the accusations and added:
"That he was only compelled to 'apologize' once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words."
Notably, the footage featuring Diddy was recorded inside the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, as per CNN. The singer reportedly attacked Cassie Ventura a few times in the video and it even proved the accusations of the latter in a lawsuit that was filed and settled in November last year.
