American rock band The Killers was one of many names who appeared at the star-studded Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco. The band was expected to perform on Friday, August 9, 2024. The performance, though, was paused briefly due to a medical emergency.
Brandon Flowers was singing Caution when he paused in the middle after bright lights in the back of the crowd caught his eyes. Flowers soon addressed the security staff about the situation:
"Sorry, security, check it out. There are people back there. There’s something going down."
San Francisco Fire Department spokesperson Jonathan Baxter later told praised Flowers in a statement given to SFGATE. Baxter mentioned:
"By stopping the music and letting the crowd know, letting the medical people do their stuff, it’s a benefit to the person experiencing the medical emergency, and, in some cases, it can help save a life."
Baxter further suggested people who had plans on attending the music festival to stay hydrated all the time and carry necessary medication as well.
Meanwhile, The Killers frontman returned to his performance soon after authorities attended the health crisis situation in the crowd. While resuming the performance, Flowers started with Runaway Horses before heading back to Caution.
As can be seen in the post embedded above, the band had posted photos of the concert on their Instagram page as well, with the caption:
"There's a new San Francisco treat."
More about The Killers' performance at the San Francisco Outside Lands Festival
Several artists, including Sabrina Carpenter, Daniel Caesar and Gryffin, were supposed to be a part of the San Francisco music festival.
The Killers also made an entry and gave an energetic performance at the festival. While the band's performance was halted in the middle after a medical emergency, they soon bounced back to their set.
Their set began with Brandon Flowers performing their 2001 track Somebody Told Me. The band went on performing several songs like Read My Mind, Smile Like You Mean It and Jenny Was a Friend of Mine.
They, however, didn't include their latest single Bright Lights. The Killers further surprised the concertgoers when they began performing the cover of duo Erasure's A Little Respect, a song which was released in 1988.
In the end, the band performed their 2004 song All These Things That I’ve Done, which promoted the audience to sing along the lines that read:
"I’ve got soul but I’m not a soldier..."
The rock band then dived into two other songs - When You Were Young and Human.
IT ended their Friday performance at the music festival with hit song Mr. Brightside. It might remind the readers about the time when the band halted their O2 Arena performance in London, on July 10, to witness the Euros semi-finals with the crowd there.
Shortly after England's victory in the match against Netherlands, the band played the 2003 song, which was later included in the 2004 album Hot Fuss.
Talking about the The Killers' upcoming concerts, they are set to perform a 10-day show at the The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, starting on August 14 and continuing till September 1, 2024.
