At 39, Katy Perry is one of the fittest pop icons in the industry. Even after giving birth, the Firework songstress has maintained peak fitness and a youthful glow, thanks to her strict workout schedule and healthy diet.
Katy Perry recently wowed fans with her appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards 2024 with her fiance Orlando Bloom. The songstress arrived on the red carpet at New York's UBS Arena in a one-shoulder brassiere and a floor-length gown. Perry quite literally flashed her abs with her toned stomach glistening in the spotlight.
Katy Perry has discussed her age-defying diet in several interviews in the past. Her diet starts with water and other fluids to keep her hydrated throughout the day. She breaks her daily caloric intake into three to five small meals a day during tours or other events.
For breakfast, she goes with eggs and a banana, while proteins dominate her lunches. She prefers to have greens, soup, or pasta for dinner. Perry combines a strict dietary regimen with regular workout sessions to achieve peak fitness goals.
Here is a sneak into her 2023 interview with Women's Magazine where she provided an insight into her dietary habits:
Katy Perry's day starts with a lot of water
Katy Perry's day starts with a lot of hydration and she is aware of the health benefits of drinking water. In the interview with Women's Health, the Roar songstress revealed that she drinks a lot of water before her first sip of coffee in the morning.
Perry also adds apple cider vinegar, celery juice, and other fluids rich in mineral salts as a part of her early-morning intake.
Finally, she practices gratitude as part of her morning schedule.
“I always start my morning out with a mantra of gratitude, even if I'm in a cranky mood because I didn't get enough sleep,” she said.
Katy Perry prefers three to five small meals a day
Katy Perry prefers to divide her dietary intake into three to five small meals a day. For breakfast, she prefers bananas and hard-boiled eggs, i.e., "something that is light, but got some kick to start my day."
For lunch, she prefers a salad or soup with a generous helping of proteins like chicken, fish, or nuts. Her dinner follows the same pattern with the addition of pasta once or twice a week.
“I've started eating earlier, which everybody swears by, but that's only because my daughter eats earlier, which is great. I used to go to dinner at eight o'clock and anyone that tries to make [a] reservation at eight o'clock, I'm like, ‘I'm out,’ it's too much,” she added.
Katy Perry's own brand 'De Soi' helps her strike a dietary balance
De Soi is a brand manufacturing non-alcoholic beverages and was founded by Katy Perry and Morgan McLachlan in 2022. The balanced beverages produced by her brand help her keep fit while not compromising on taste.
“The meaning of De Soi is 'pleasure with restraint,' which I love, and that is really a definition for my life,” she explained. “I have no shame, being both into alcohol and also being sober curious as well—I'm a real combination and I think De Soi is great.”
Although not her favorite, Katy Perry works out a lot
Katy Perry tries to keep her workout sessions fun because it isn't the songstress' favorite part of the day.
“It's not my favorite thing to do with the world—unless I'm dancing or I'm snowboarding or I'm doing something that's kind of Masked,” she said.
She aims to hit the gym three to four times a week, either doing some weight training or doing freehand exercises. She also loves hiking or playing pickleball with friends. Despite not being a fan of working out, Perry explained how working out is extremely rewarding for the singer.
“I sweated the most I've ever sweat,” she recalled. “We were all texting afterwards and I was like, ‘My mood is unusually happy right now.’”
Finally, motherhood has had a big impact on Katy Perry's life choices. After becoming a mother, Katy's priorities shifted from working out to being with her daughter for as long as possible.
“I wanna give any extra moments I have to being present and being a mother,” she explained.
“I did it at 35. And I really feel like I checked off a lot of my life boxes and was ready to do that, to be of service as a mother does. I've seen so many views of so many different mountains, and this is the best view,” added the songstress.
Perry became a mother to Daisy Dove Bloom on August 26, 2020, with her fiance Orlando Bloom.
