Why were Lil Durk and his OTF mates arrested?
Grammy-winning rapper Lil Durk and five of his OTF mates were arrested for charges of murder-for-hire of fellow rapper Quando Rondo which led to the death of Rondo's cousin Saviay'a Robinson in 2022.
The arrested OTF members included Kavon London Grant (aka Vonnie), Deandre Dontrell Wilson (aka DeDe), David Brian Lindsey (aka Browneyez), Asa Houston (aka Boogie), and Keith Jones (aka Flacka).
A testimony by FBI agent Sarah Corcoran against Durk and his associates was used to file an affidavit in the federal court.
According to a report by Forbes, the affidavit claimed that Lil Durk had placed a bounty on Quando Rondo's life and planned it as revenge for the death of rapper King Von in 2020. King Von was a member of OTF and was allegedly shot dead outside a hookah bar in November 2020.
Timothy 'Lul Tim' Leeks, one of Quando Rondo's associates was allegedly charged with the murder.
The affidavit further contained evidence like flight tickets and credit card details to allegedly prove the accusations. It claimed that the flight tickets connected to the case were purchased using credit cards linked with Lil Durk's OTF label.
According to prosecutors, Durk's five OTF associates had traveled to Los Angeles to plan the murder of Quando Rondo. However, Robinson was a fellow passenger in the car and was killed instead of Rondo. Quando Rondo escaped the incident unscathed.
According to the US District Attorney, Durk tried to flee the country prior to his arrest in October 2024. Reportedly, the rapper had purchased flight tickets to Switzerland, Dubai, and Italy but was unable to board any flight, and he was arrested.
