Rihanna has two sons, RZA and Riot, whom she shares with her partner, A$AP ROCKY. Fans have watched her blossom into a devoted mother who gushes about her boys in interviews. The 36-year-old also gives rare glimpses into her life as a mother through cute videos of herself and her kids that she uploads on her social media platforms.

The superstar opened up to Extra about motherhood in 2022 saying:

"It is crazy. It is amazing. ... It's weird. It's all of those things, all at once. The best feeling, the best. The most love I've ever known. I can't describe it. It's new. It's fascinating. Every step, every facial expression, every new milestone. I love it.”

Rihanna’s motherhood journey and what she has said about it

Rihanna made a public announcement about her first pregnancy in January 2022, after photos of her strolling with a visible baby bump went viral. She and A$AP ROCKY welcomed their first son, named RZA Athelston Mayers on May 13, 2022.

Speaking with Extra in November 2022, about her new reality as a mother, Rihanna said:

"I thought I was getting better at patience, but this will sit you down. You are forced to be patient as a mom, as a parent, just in general. Your tolerance level goes down, but your patience goes up, if that makes any sense."

Baby RZA appeared on the cover of British Vogue's March 2023 issue, and his mother gave an interview to the magazine, discussing how her life has changed.

"Oh, my God, it’s legendary. It’s everything. You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever," she said.

She also spoke on the first few days after the delivery:

“Essentially, from one person I became two. You walk into the hospital as a couple and leave as a family of three. It’s n*ts. And oh, my gosh, those first days are insane. You don’t sleep. At all. Not even if you wanted to. We came home, cold turkey, had no one. It was just us as parents and our baby. Man, you’re a zombie for the most part.”

In February 2023, Rihanna announced her second pregnancy while performing at the Super Bowl halftime show. On August 1, 2024, the RiRi and A$AP ROCKY had their second son, Riot. The superstar got candid with an Interview in February 2024, about raising two sons and how her mentality has shifted as a mother.

“I’m actually afraid of sh*t. The well-being of your kids, you worry about that constantly,” she said. “Nobody warns you that having kids means you’re going to worry every second of your life.”

When asked how she would have imagined her life 10-15 years ago, the nine-time Grammy Award winner replied:

“I wouldn’t have had any idea. The only thing that I knew I wanted, or that I could imagine, was motherhood. I didn’t know how it would come, but it is the best part of my journey so far. Everything else was a surprise.”

The mother of two seems to be juggling motherhood and managing a business empire well, with multiple campaigns and product launches in the past months.

At the same time, she updates fans on the realities of being a mom to two under-two-year-olds and the physical toll it takes on her, using funny memes.
