Rihanna attended the 2024 Crop Over festival in her home country, Barbados, in a colorful festival attire. The festival, also termed the Grand Kadooment parade, was held in August 5, and saw the celebrated singer strutting down St. Michael in an elaborate costume.
For the 2024 Crop Over festival, Rihanna was dressed in a gold and bronze bejeweled costume, coupled with colorful feathers designed like wings. Rihanna last attended the popular festival in 2019, making her return in 2024 more exciting for fans.
Billboard reported in 2015 that Rihanna’s presence at the seasonal music festival had resulted in more interest in the country’s festival and music.

The singer's bedazzled costume featured brown and gold jewels, which wrapped around her body and snaked towards her feet. The jewels were carved like a crown atop her head and a jeweled collar around her neck.
The costume was held together by translucent material and she wore a pair of strappy heels with a motif reminiscent of leaves from Gianvito Rossi. The Fenty mogul complemented the bold look with makeup featuring nude lips, smoky eyes, and glitter. Her brown tresses were accented by blonde highlights.
The elaborate costume was further accentuated by ombre-hued feathers in yellow, orange, pink, burgundy, and black, spread around her back like wings and draping to the ground.
Her costume was reportedly designed by Lauren Austin who has been working with the singer since 2018. The Trinidadian costume designer, who has also worked with Daze magazine, spoke to Nylon magazine about designing the singer's 2018 festival costume:
"Designing for Rihanna is exciting and fun because there are no boundaries. This allows me to experiment with different looks, and I try to incorporate her personality into each costume with my own creative touch."
Lauren Austin added:
"She does not care about what others think and she does and wears what she wants. She is an amazing person—very easygoing, fun, and friendly.”
Rihanna has always turned up in flamboyant outfits for the Barbados festival. In 2019, the Cheers Drink to That hitmaker showed up in a monochrome pink affair complete with a minidress and a skirt made out of feathers. She rounded up the look with glittery pink shoes, a bantu knot hairstyle and green eyeshadow.
In 2017, she was spotted in an outfit like 2024’s, featuring pink and silver jewels and set off by electric blue hair. In 2015, the nine-time Grammy Award winner opted for a black gem-encrusted set and an elaborate black and green headpiece.
In 2013, she went all-white in crytals which adorned her head, neck and body, a white feather strap on her feet and a pair of white and grey sneakers.
In 2011, the singer opted for a red-and-yellow-themed costume which featured a yellow and red bralette and matching red bottoms and a dark pink headpiece.
The Visit Barbados website describes the Grand Kadooment Day as follows:
"Grand Kadooment Day celebrates the end of Crop Over, where Masquerade Bands make their way to the Mighty Grynner Highway with revelers dressed in sequin costumes decorated with colorful feathers, jewels and bright accents; dancing behind music trucks and moving bars."
Rihanna stays connected to her Barbadian roots and regularly returns home to express her love for the country's culture and heritage.
