Before the halftime performance, the artists teased the audience with a four-minute trailer called The Call.

Super Bowl LVI halftime saw performances by various hip-hop artists, including Snoop Dogg. Jhene Aiko opened the game with her rendition of America Is Beautiful. It was followed by country star Mickey Guyton's version of The Star Spangled Banner.

After a soulful opening, there were powerful hip-hop performances. Snoop and Dr. Dre first took to the stage and performed The Next Episode, California Love and Still Dre before 50 Cent dropped a surprise performance on In Da Club.

Second-time performer Mary Blige performed next on stage and played her hit singles, Family Affair and No More Drama. The singer had previously performed on 2001's XXXVI stage with Aerosmith, NSYNC, Britney Spears and Nelly.

The hits kept coming, as Kendrick Lamar played his song, Alright. Eminem was joined by Anderson Paak on drums and got the audience on their feet with Lose Yourself. The performance ended with the ensemble of artists joining Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg to perform Dr. Dre.

The performance marked an iconic moment for hip-hop performers and fans. In a press conference, Dr. Dre said that the performance was a long time coming:

“Hip-hop is the biggest genre of music on the planet right now, so it’s crazy that it took all of this time for us to be recognized."
"I think we’re going to go on and do a fantastic show, and we’re going to do it so big that they can’t deny us anymore in the future.”

The six-time Grammy Award winner emphasized:

"We're going to open more doors for hip-hop artists in the future and making sure that the NFL understands that this is what it should have been a long time ago."

The Superbowl halftime performance by Snoop Dogg and other hip-hop artists was long due. The artists marked an opening for future performances by hip-hop artists in the future.

More recently, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg launched ready-to-drink Gin and Juice with a surprise after-party at the Superbowl After party in Feb 2024. The duo were joined on a surprise performance by Eminem. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have also announced the launch of their album Missionary this year.
