Post Malone started playing music because of the game Guitar Hero. His debut single White Iverson reached number 14 on Billboard Hot 100 in 2015. In an interview with The Fader in 2015, Post said he started recording his mixtape on Audacity when he was 16. He said that he did not plan to "record" or release White Iverson.

When Raye Rich [of FKi] suggested recording the song, Malone agreed to the idea. When asked if he expected the song to receive attention, he said,

"No way. It was the first song I ever put out really."

Post Malone has outdone himself and has experienced success in the music industry. After White Iverson's popularity, he was signed by Republic Records. In an interview with Forbes in 2017, Malone talked about the success of White Iverson and said,

"I'm just glad they like a song! Haha. I am just creating the music I en joyto make and people seem to enjoy it. Y'all will be stuck with me for a while."

He released his first studio album, Stoney, in 2016. From alternative rock sounds of Circles to heavy-metal song like Take What You Want, Malone has produced songs in various genres.

In the next five years, Malone bagged various Grammy Nominations. His second album, Beerbongs and Bentleys, in 2018, was nominated for Album Of The Year. He continued to deliver hits like Rockstar, Better Now, and Circles. He made history with Sunflower, which features vocals by Swan Lee. It became the first-ever Double Diamond single in Feb 2024.

When talking about his role in the rap ecosystem, Malone told the Fader in 2015,

"I'm an American badass. At 40 years old, I'm gonna be a country singer. That's down the line."

Much before turning 40, Malone released various country songs, including his latest hit, I Had Some Help. Malone has talked about not being confined to a specific genre. In an interview on the Howard Stern Show in 2022, Malone said that he tends to "split" his time in different things. He said,

“To be honest, there’s nothing stopping me from taking a camera or setting up in my studio in Utah and just recording a country album [to put] on YouTube."

He added,

“I’m allowed to do that. I’m a human being.”

In Feb 2024, Post Malone kicked off the Super Bowl performance with his rendition of America The Beautiful. Post Malone has been humble about his success and, in an interview with Esquire 2023, called himself a "professional auto-tune manipulator." He added that he tries to be "himself" and enjoys making music. He said,

"I’m just Austin, and that’s like the coolest job to me. A long time ago, that wasn’t a cool job and I wanted to be someone else.”

Post Malone has experimented with various genres and hopes to release a full country album. He has collaborated with many artists, including Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, Ozzy Osbourne, Blake Shelton, and others. He has received over ten Grammy nominations and many other awards that are a testament to his music acumen.
