According to multiple sources, Trey Songz's counsel recently asked for a 2024 judgment to be ruled aside wherein the judge ruled that Trey must pay over $11 million in damages to Maryland Capitol police officer Tyrelle Dunn. The police officer's lawsuit claims that he sustained injuries in November 2021 while trying to rescue his wife from Trey's Las Vegas hotel room.

Trey Songz's counsel mentioned that he wasn't aware of the lawsuit until November 27, 2024. It was when Trey received messages from fans supporting him over the default judgment that the singer came to know about the lawsuit. Trey's counsel mentioned that the singer "engaged civil defense counsel over the Thanksgiving holiday and filed this Motion to set aside the default judgment the next week."

Trey Songz's counsel added that he has the right to defend himself in court instead of being subjected to a default judgment. The singer's counsel claimed that the judgment was "improperly obtained" in the case. Trey's counsel added:

"The enforcement of this default judgment will be devastating to [Trey] and will ruin his life.”

According to Celebrity Networth, Trey Songz has a net worth of $6 million. In addition to earning from music, the singer paid $470,000 for a condo in Miami and listed the unit for sale for over $1 million in February 2016. He sold it for $710,000 in September 2017. Additionally, the singer paid $1.1 million for another condo in Miami and sold the unit for $900,000 in November 2023. Trey also paid $3.45 million for a residence in the LA suburb of Bell Canyon, California.

Tyrelle Dunn's claims against Trey Songz in the lawsuit explored

According to a report by 8 News Now dated November 2024, the legal allegations against Trey Songz were levied by Maryland Capitol police officer, Tyrelle Dunn. Tyrelle identified himself as a field trainer officer who was appointed to guard the governor of Maryland. The police officer's lawsuit claims that the incident he is suing Trey for took place on November 28, 2021, at The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas.

Details of the lawsuit allege that Tyrelle's wife was escorted to room 6014 by "defendant security personnel" wherein she was told she would meet Trey. Tyrelle claimed that while his wife was in room 6014, she was assaulted, attempted to leave, and had her phone taken away.

When the police officer started looking for his wife and walked toward room 6014, he heard his wife screaming for help and stating that she was being held against her wishes. Tyrelle alleges that is when he was attacked and his statement about the same reads:

“The attack has had a profound and everyday impact on my life. I still have the scarring, and suffer emotionally from the attack. I think about the attack every day when I see the injuries to my face and body.”

While a judge is yet to decide on Trey Songz's plea against the judgment, it was on October 10, 2024, that Clark County District Court Judge Jacob Reynolds ordered the singer to pay $11.2 million to Tyrelle. The amount consisted of $5 million for suffering and pain, $5 million for punitive damages, $28,000 for medical expenses, and $1.2 million for prejudgement interest.

Tyrelle Dunn's attorney mentioned in his court documents that Trey was served a copy of the summons and complaints at his Bell Canyon, California apartment on August 2, 2023. However, in his recent plea, the singer claimed that the process server did not serve him properly.
