Ariana Grande's first-ever public interaction with Pete Davidson was in March 2016 on the SNL show. However, the 7 Rings singer started dating the late Mac Miller soon after that, a relationship that lasted two years.
May 2018: Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson start dating "casually"
It was in May 2018 that Ari announced the news of their breakup on an Instagram story, further adding they would continue to support each other as friends. Later in the same month, US Weekly reported that Grande had confirmed to be "casually" dating Pete Davidson.
Soon after the couple started going out, Davidson covered up the tattoo of her ex-girlfriend, Cazzie David, daughter of the comedian, Larry David, on his arm.
According to E! News, the comedian spoke with Greg Yuna, a jeweler, by the end of May, asking to design a ring. Yuna mentioned to the outlet that the ring was pear-shaped, over 3 carats, with Pete having paid $93,000 for it.
On May 30, the SNL star posted his first picture with Ariana on Instagram, in which both of them were in Harry Potter robes, captioning it:

The Side to Side singer followed suit the very next day, posting a picture in which Pete was kissing her cheek with his arms wrapped around her. Ari captioned it:

June 2018: Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson got engaged and moved in together
In June, Davidson got two new tattoos to honor his girlfriend in New York. One of which was her initials, AG, on his right thumb, and the other was the signature bunny ears featured on Grande's album cover for Dangerous Woman.
The couple made the news of their engagement public on June 9 as reported by PEOPLE Magazine and moved in together soon afterward. Ariana Grande purchased a luxurious apartment in Chelsea - her first home - to live with her fiancé. It reportedly cost her $16 million.
Talking about living with Ari in the house in a 2018 GQ interview, Pete confessed how it was his job "to keep the refrigerator stocked," further adding:

Davidson also gifted her his father's pendant, for which the couple received a lot of backlash online. According to Business Insider, Pete defended his decision by saying:
"[He did it] because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much."
When Ariana Grande appeared on Fallon's The Tonight Show in August 2018 - a little after the couple started dating - she revealed about her long-time crush on Davidson, saying:
"We never exchanged numbers or anything, we weren't even friends for the longest time, but I had the biggest crush in the whole world on him the whole time — like forever.
