Ariana Grande, who released her debut studio album - Yours Truly - in 2013, had no idea that six years later, she would be headlining the Coachella Music Valley and Arts Festival.

In 2019, the 25-year-old was announced as one of the three Coachella headliners, making her the youngest artist to have headlined the music festival in its 20-year-long history.

According to Billboard, the NASA singer wrote a tweet about it on X shortly after the announcement, on January 3, 2019. The since-deleted tweet read:

"humbled and excited as hell, @coachella - thank u."

Grande also became the fourth woman ever to headline the festival, following Björk, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé.

In 2019, Ariana Grande was headlining the Sunday sets of Coachella - a position that Beyoncé took last year - with Childish Gambino and Tame Impala headlining the other days of the weekend festival.

Ari's set for the first weekend included 25 songs, starting out with Raindrops (An Angel Cried) from her fourth album, and ending with her fifth album's titular lead track, Thank U, Next.

In the first half of her performance, Grande invited to the stage NSYNC, one of the most popular boy bands of all time. While Justin Timberlake couldn't make it, the other four band members were there, with Ari supplementing the fifth voice as they performed Tearin' Up My Heart and Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored.

Before their performance of the first track began, Ari announced, "I've been rehearsing my whole motherf***ing life for this moment."

The second guest artist in Ariana Grande's set was her long-time friend and collaborator, Nicki Minaj. The duo performed two of their collaborative tracks - Bang Bang and Side to Side - on stage. They incurred a technical failure mid-performance, but nor did it dampen their spirits, neither their audience's.

In the second half of her set, the 7 Rings singer invited Diddy and Mase on stage to perform Mo Money Mo Problems alongside her. While performing Needy alone on stage, the singer-songwriter appeared to tear up.

Ari changed four different outfits throughout her set, all of which included glittery crop tops paired with mini skirts and knee-high boots.

On the second weekend of Coachella, Ariana Grande's setlist was slightly shorter, remaining mostly the same with one exception - which was reported to be a last-minute change as her friend and Stuck with U co-singer, Justin Bieber appeared on stage to perform with her on his number-one hit, Sorry.

To introduce Bieber on the stage, Ari said, "My friend Justin Bieber is here," which is when the audience went crazy, anticipating a duo performance by the singers.

As the Baby singer appeared on stage, he said:

"This is my first time performing here in two years, and I had to get my groove back, get my swag back, you know what I'm saying. Thank you Coachella. Thank you Ariana Grande. And by the way, the album will be out soon."

According to The Blast, Grande was paid the same fee as Beyoncé received the prior year - which was $4 million per set, making it $8 million for her entire Coachella performance.

Ariana Grande enjoyed her status as the youngest Coachella headliner for three whole years until Billie Eilish broke her record in 2022. Eilish was announced as a headliner at the 2022 Coachella Festival when she was just 20 years old, which was five years younger than Grande at the time she headlined the event.

In the Coachella Festival held earlier this year, Lana Del Rey and Doja Cat headlined the show alongside Tyler, the Creator.
