Harry Styles is one of the most celebrated artists of the modern generation. He is popular for his music, along with his charming personality and nonconformist approach to fashion. As a former member of the acclaimed boy band One Direction, Styles has charted his own path in music and established a successful solo career.

One Direction announced an indefinite hiatus in 2015, leaving Harry Styles and the rest of the band members to embark on their solo trajectories. Harry has since then received multiple Grammy Awards, with his songs having topped both UK and US charts.

Harry Styles' musical journey and his major achievements

Harry Styles auditioned for The X Factor UK in 2010 and impressed two of the judges on the show. He was grouped with four other contestants, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson, as the five auditionees failed to make it to the Judges' houses round as soloists.

The group would later be known as One Direction, one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. The band made history with their first four albums debuting at the peak of the US Billboard 200 chart.

Midnight Memories, their third album released on November 25, 2013, became the best-selling album of 2013, as listed by the IFPI, with 4 million copies sold.

One Direction’s Where We Are tour was the highest-grossing concert tour of 2014, and the highest-grossing tour of a vocal group, according to Billboard and Pollstar. In 2015, the band’s management announced an indefinite hiatus, leading to the members pursuing their solo dreams.

On the 10th anniversary of One Direction’s creation, Harry Styles shared a photo of the group members hugging on stage and wrote in the caption:

"I’ve been struggling to put into words how grateful I am for everything that’s happened over the last ten years. I’ve seen things and places that I’d only ever dreamt of when I was growing up. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with some of the most incredible people, and gained friendships that I know I will treasure for the rest of my life.”

Styles’ eponymous debut solo album was released in May 2017. Harry Styles, which featured tracks that sampled soft rock, Britpop, and rock, debuted at number one in the UK Albums and US Billboard 200 charts.

Harry then embarked on a worldwide concert tour, Harry Styles-Live on Tour, from September 2017 to July 2018. The tour spanned across North America, Europe, Oceania, South America, and Asia. According to Billboard, Styles was the third top-selling touring act of 2018 in the U.S., with over $63 million in earnings.

His second album, Fine Line, was released in December 2019 and debuted with the biggest first-week sales by an English male artist. It was included in Rolling Stone’s 2020 list of 500 greatest albums of all time, topping the US Billboard 200, and its fourth track, Watermelon Sugar, peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.

In May 2022, Styles released his third album, Harry’s House. The album fuses elements of synth-pop, pop-funk, and new wave. Harry’s House became the fastest-selling and the best-selling album in the UK in 2022.

As It Was, a track from the album, debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart and US Billboard Hot 100, becoming the second solo song of Styles to achieve this feat.

Harry’s House won Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical at the 65th Grammy Awards.

Styles embarked on his second concert tour, Love On Tour, to promote his released albums, Fine Line and Harry’s House, from September 2021 to July 2023. At the time, it wrapped up as the fifth highest-grossing tour ever with over $617 million earned, according to Billboard.

In an interview with NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly in 2020, Styles gave his definition of a successful musical career, stating:

"I think if you're making what you want to make, then ultimately no one can tell you you're unsuccessful, because you're doing what makes you happy. That's the biggest thing that I learned this time."

Fans eagerly await news of a new album from Harry, although the singer hasn't given an official confirmation of another album yet.
