Diddy was accused of r*pe and abuse in a lawsuit filed by Cassie Ventura in November 2023. While CNN recently obtained footage of the rapper assaulting Ventura, cable television network Revolt shared their response to the same through Instagram on May 18, 2024.
Advisory Excellence states that Revolt was established by Diddy, also known as Sean Love Combs, in October 2013. Revolt started by writing that they are "saddened and disturbed" by the viral video featuring Sean. The statement continued:
"Even with his recent separation from REVOLT, it is still our duty to address this matter and recognize the direct impact it has on our staff, our audience, and the culture we represent."
The post further stated that Revolt is in support of the assault victim and that they are "committed to upholding the values and integrity" that are expected from their community. They ended by writing:
"We vehemently stand against any form of domestic abuse and will always be a fearless advocate for truth and accountability. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. Please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at (800) 799-7233."
The comments section mostly included negative responses, with the public questioning the reason behind the statement. A few of them also mentioned that Revolt did not apologize to Cassie, which was wrong on their side.
Revolt was started by Diddy more than 10 years ago: Content and Diddy's exit explained
As mentioned, Diddy launched Revolt in 2013, and it was intended to bring a change to the world of music and entertainment. It also aimed to promote black culture, along with artists and entrepreneurs. The television network has spoken up on issues like racial justice, activism, and more.
The channel has always preferred music over everything else, but they have even broadcast other kinds of content, such as live performances, documentaries, and original shows. It has additionally impacted the TV industry and offered a platform for artists who are slowly building their successful futures.
The official website of Revolt also says that they have been an "unrivaled cultural authority across categories" and added:
"We create impactful content, campaigns, and experiences that entertain, inform and empower multicultural youth culture across platforms. We empower the next generation of cultural leaders by providing the tools, resources and expanded distribution needed to build scalable media brands that engage a broader global audience."
While Diddy served as the chairman of Revolt for a long time, he decided to exit on November 28, 2023. The reason was the legal problems he was involved in, including Cassie Ventura's lawsuit. Revolt also confirmed the same through their Instagram page, saying that he never had an important role in the entire business and adding:
"Our focus has always been one that reflects our commitment to the collective journey of REVOLT – one that is not driven by the individual, but by the shared efforts and values of our entire team on behalf of advancing, elevating, and championing our culture and that continues."
Diddy shares an apology for the viral video on Instagram
On May 19, 2024, Diddy posted a video on Instagram where he said that his behavior was wrong and took responsibility for everything that was shown in the assault footage. He added that he is committed to becoming a "better man" and continued:
"It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f*cked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses."
Notably, Cassie Ventura's lawsuit was settled a day after it was filed at a federal court in Los Angeles. While details about the same were not revealed, Ventura said in a statement that they would resolve the issue amicably.
