Same Old Love hitmaker Selena Gomez opened up about the possibility of her ever touring again. In a Time magazine cover story published on Wednesday, May 29, the actress and singer revealed that her chances of ever doing a major tour again were at '50-50.'

Selena Gomez's last major worldwide tour came in 2016 for her album Revival.

The tour was originally scheduled to conclude on December 18, 2016, in the Telmex Auditorium in Zapopan, Mexico. However, Gomez's lupus complications caused it to be halted earlier on August 13, 2016, at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.

"It is very emotionally draining for me" Selena Gomez on touring

On May 29, Time magazine published a cover story on Selena Gomez in which the actress and singer opened up about her career and mental health. In the cover story, Gomez who hasn't gone on a tour since 2016 revealed her uncertainties about ever touring again. The decision to go on another stood at a '50-50' for Gomez.

"Nothing makes me happier than 90 minutes of being with my fans and just celebrating together," she stated.

However, the Good For You hitmaker also added:

"It is very emotionally draining for me. And then you realize you’re just surrounded by a bunch of people that you’re paying."

Selena Gomez's 2016 Revival tour was the last major tour that she ever did.

The singer even underwent a kidney transplant in 2017. Back in 2016, Gomez released a statement following the cancellation of her tour revealing her mental health struggles. The singer told People magazine at the time:

"I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues,"

The singer's struggles with her mental health did not end there as Gomez revealed during an appearance on Miley Cyrus' Bright Minded Instagram series that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In a November 2022 Rolling Stone cover story, Selena Gomez opened up about contemplating ending her life.

Gomez told the magazine that she'd been to four different treatment centers and disclosed that there were times when she wouldn't sleep for days. Gomez explained that her symptoms started with depression and then moved on to isolation. She even spent years contemplating su*cide. Gomez told Rolling Stone:

"I thought the world would be better if I wasn’t there."

In her Time magazine cover story, the Spring Breakers star lamented about taking a break from social media. She had an assistant to maintain her social media for four years before currently going back to posting most of her content herself.

As for who she chooses to interact with offline, the actress was very particular. She noted that girls were 'mean' even if that was a cliche. Gomez told the publication:

"It’s a very weird competition, being in the cool girls area—and then I’m just kind of like, there. I don’t know where I’m meant to belong."

She added:

"I love having levelheaded people around that couldn’t give two f-cks about what I do."

Selena Gomez will reprise her role as Abel Mora in the upcoming fourth season of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building, which will hit the streaming platform on August 27. The very next day will see the release of the musical crime comedy Emilia Perez starring Selena Gomez. The film landed Gomez, Adriana Paz, Zoe Saldaña, and Karla Sofía Gascón the Best Actress Award at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
