Well-known rapper BLXST, also known as Matthew Dean Burdette, has recently posted a video through his Instagram page. The clip featured a robbery taking place at his house and the entire thing was recorded on CCTV cameras.
The 31-year-old has one album in his credits, titled I'll Always Come Find You, which was released on July 19, 2024. He is from Los Angeles, California, and is popular for singles such as Headshots, Savage, and Selfish.
Notably, BLXST shared the robbery clip on Friday and requested everyone to pray for his family. He started by writing:
"The level of strength it take to not crash out rn smh. Imagine being across the country away from my family during one of the heights of my career & waking up to my son face timing at 4am saying "I think bad guys are in the house.""
Matthew added that he was angry for not being available to save his children and continued:
"I take pride in being humble and pure but to be honest idk who to trust I'm just glad my family good overall. Thank god I'm in position to go to war and willing to due behind mine."
The video started with two men trying to get access to BLXST's house. One of them can be spotted kicking the door a few times until another man arrives and breaks the glass.
The three men enter the house with one of them holding a torch in his hand. The screen goes black for a few seconds and the men run out of the house by jumping through the gate.
BLXST grew up in a musical environment which contributed to his career: Early life and other details explained
Matthew has accumulated a huge fanbase over the years. He developed an interest in music during childhood when his mother used to play Lauryn Hill records and nalthough his parents separated at one point, it helped him to create new beats and lyrics.
The artist was inspired by rappers such as 50 Cent. While speaking to Passion of the Weiss in 2020, BLXST recalled the things he learned as a resident of Los Angeles, saying that people need to find their path by themselves.
"It's easy to get lost in a lot of the BS that's going on outside your doors, but I think really believing in yourself and staying true to yourself is the definition of finding your own path, so you can navigate through all the BS that goes on."
Matthew shared that when he came to Inland Empire, things changed a lot since the teachers were strict, and was feeling isolated. He said that his father always arrived late at home and he had to spend time working on his laptop, music, or skateboarding.
BLXST even thanked his uncle in the interview for introducing him to music, calling him the "first rapper" he knew, and added:
"He always told me, "If you want to be a rapper, find a word in the dictionary every day and find the definition," and it'll help me with my wordplay, so to speak. I also remember my mom and my sister having vinyl in the house, using the record player to listen to Lauryn Hill and stuff."
BLXST said that he had a friend named King who helped him to join TIU Muzic, saying that he learned the importance of building a brand. He then collaborated with Nipsey Hussle for a project titled Sixtape and later gained recognition for his single Hurt.
Apart from his solo projects, Matthew has been featured in the albums of other artists such as Mozzy, Blueface, and Fireboy DML. Back in 2022, he released a mixtape, Before You Go, and has three EPs in his credits. He has been praised for his musical skills in several songs, including Don't Forget and One of Them Ones.
