More on Kendrick Lamar's The Pop Out – Ken & Friends concert
Kendrick Lamar's The Pop Out – Ken & Friends concert was first announced on June 5, 2024. While the live stream is in celebration of Black Music Month, the concert itself is in honor of Juneteenth.
The concert title is a reference to the artist's recently released track Not Like Us, in which he took aim at Drake. The song was a crucial part of the beef between the two artists and it followed Kendrick Lamar's Meet the Grahams.
The upcoming event is set to be Lamar's first performance at the 17k capacity venue since 2018 and will follow his tour and other stand-alone shows, which wrapped up earlier this year, with the last show being on May 10, 2024.
Kendrick Lamar's recent work
Lamar's last studio album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers released in 2022. After the release of this project and the subsequent tour in support of it, the singer worked on several singles, including the Baby Keem collaboration track The Hillbillies. He also collaborated with Metro Boomin and Future on the single Like That.
More recently, the singer released four diss tracks aimed at Drake. He released a six-minute track, Euphoria, in response to two tracks by the latter on April 30, 2024. Kendrick Lamar then released the second diss track 6:16 in LA, followed by Meet the Grahams, both on May 3, 2024. The latter track went on to chart at the 12th position on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
The fourth diss track, Not Like Us, was released just a day later and quickly secured the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
