Well-known musician Casey Chaos passed away on December 21, 2024, at the age of 59. He gained recognition as a member of the rock band Amen and also formed another group called Scum, which released one album.

The circumstances surrounding Chaos' death have yet to be officially disclosed. Alongside Casey, the final lineup of Amen included John Fahnestock and John King. Amen released four albums, starting with Slave in 1994, and became popular for their singles such as Coma America, Too Hard to Be Free, and The Waiting 18.

Brian Perera, founder of record label Cleopatra Records, shared a statement on Instagram on the day of Casey Chaos' demise. He extended his condolences to Casey's family and recalled his time spent with Chaos:

"I had the privilege of working with Casey during his unforgettable live performance with Christian Death at the American Legion Hall back in 1993. Walking into the hall with my good friend Matt Green and my wife Yvonne, was an experience I'll never forget – especially seeing Nicolas Cage sitting front-row center, completely captivated."

Furthermore, Brian described Casey as an "extraordinary musician" who always enjoyed his lifestyle. He concluded:

"May he rest in peace alongside Rozz Williams and the many tortured souls we admire and respect."

The post featured a black-and-white photo of Casey, and the comments section was flooded with tributes from people reminiscing about their collaboration with him, with a few others calling him a "legend."

Casey Chaos was the oldest member of Amen, initially known as Disorderly Conduct

As mentioned, the Trenton, New York native was among the final lineup of Amen, originally named Disorderly Conduct. However, Casey Chaos was the person who originally formed the group, which underwent several changes in terms of the members over the years.

Among the drummers, a few members were active for a brief period and played for a particular year. The list includes guitarists and drummers like Joe Letz, Acey Slade, Blake Plonsky, Zach Hill, Josh Hill, Jinxx, Chris Alaniz, and Nate Manor. Duke Decter also played guitar for four years between 2005 and 2009 before returning for another stint in 2014.

Other musicians were active in the group for around 2-3 years. Shannon Larkin and Sony Mayo played for the band between 1998 and 2002. The list continues with names such as Paul Fig, Rich Jones, Piggy D., Scott Sorry, Luke Johnson, and Roy Mayorga. Additionally, there were two more members, Greg Barrybauer and Dave Lombardo.

Amen's debut album, Slave, came out when they were known as Disorderly Conduct. The group changed its name in 1994 after signing with Roadrunner Records, leading its way to success.

The group was reportedly working on a fifth album, but it was never released. Amen was featured on The Henry Rollins Show in 2007 and toured with artists such as Jinxx.

Casey Chaos' early life and his association with Amen

In an interview with KNAC in 2004, Casey Chaos revealed that he was born in Trenton and that his mother moved to Florida when he was seven. He disclosed that he arrived in California at the age of 17. He then elaborated on his early days, saying:

"I got into hardcore – I was corresponding with people, like… Glen Danzig, Ian McKaye, Corey Rust, Steve Albini, Henry Rollins, among others, when I was like ten years old. I was corresponding with them, the old-fashioned way, and I told people that I had a band, it was this "imaginary band" that I called Disorderly Conduct."

Speaking to KNAC, Casey Chaos mentioned that he never liked music but began developing an interest after listening to the punk rock band Black Flag.

He stated that he likes to record mostly at home and praised the people he was working with, saying that he can trust them. He explained:

"They came in when there was nothing. As opposed to when there was a label at the time, I already had a record deal, with the first band came into place."

Outside of Amen, Casey Chaos contributed to other projects, including a single on the album No End In Sight, released by the metalcore supergroup This Is Menace. He also worked with other bands like Christian Death and The Head Band.
