Justin Timberlake's drinking buddy reportedly drove his car home after the singer was arrested

Justin Timberlake's DWI arrest back on July 18 had gone viral after the singer's mugshot flooded social media. On the day of the incident, the singer was drinking at The American Hotel in Sag Harbor, New York, along with some of his friends before deciding to call it a night. According to TMZ, Timberlake was looking to crash at the place of a friend and her husband.

When the singer was following the couple home in his car, he ran a stop sign and swerved into the wrong lane. The cops subsequently pulled over the singer. As per TMZ, the couple who the singer was following also pulled up to the location and the woman got out of the car to ask the cops:

"Are you going to arrest Justin Timberlake?"

According to the outlet the woman offered to drive home Timberlake in her and her husband's car, however the cops refused. When she asked to drive back Timberlake's car as the singer was taken into custody, the police obliged and the woman subsequently drove home in the singer's car. Sources told TMZ that the woman had also been drinking at the same bar, two hours before Justin joined her.

Justin Timberlake failed multiple field sobriety tests and refused a breathalyzer twice, leading to his arrest and booking at the Sag Harbor police station. He faced two traffic violations and a DWI charge. The arresting officer's report noted Timberlake had bloodshot eyes, smelled of alcohol, spoke slowly, was unsteady, and struggled to focus.

Timberlake also admitted to the officer that he had "one martini" at the bar and decided to follow his friends home. On Saturday, June 22, a bartender at The American Hotel confirmed to People magazine that Timberlake had indeed only downed one cocktail. Another source told Page Six that the singer's arresting officer was too young to recognize who he was.

According to the source, when the singer allegedly muttered under his breath that this was going to ruin his tour, the officer inquired what tour he was talking about, to which he replied, "The World Tour." Despite Timberlake's one martini claim, an eyewitness told The New York Post that the singer was "wasted" and had even allegedly picked up and drank another person's drink when they were at the washroom.

Sources also told TMZ that Justin Timberlake's lawyer, Edward Burke, Jr., was planning to get the case dismissed by arguing that the cops were impaired in their judgment as they let a person who had been drinking drive away in Justin's car.
