Snoop Dogg is an American songwriter, multi-platinum rapper and former WWE Hall of Famer. Apart from a legendary music career, Snoop Dogg has left a significant impression in the wrestling world.
He appeared as the Master Of Ceremonies in WrestleMania XXIV in 2008 and was the special guest host of Raw in 2009. Dogg also inspired one of his family members to start wrestling.
Mercedes Moné, meanwhile, is an AEW TBS Champion and was previously known best for her time in WWE from 2012 to 2022, where she performed under the ring name Sasha Banks.
Mone spoke to Hot 97 earlier this month and revealed that Snoop Dogg took to her first-ever Wrestle Mania and said that he "believed" in her if she wanted to wrestle.
Everything to know about Snoop Dogg's cousin Mercedes Moné
Mercedes Mone began her wrestling career in 2010 and went on to win the Chaotic Wrestling Women's Championship.
She signed with WWE with the ring name, Sasha Banks in 2012 and continued to win several championships, including holding the WWE Raw Women's Championship five times.
Due to creative differences, she didn't initiate a new contract with WWE and is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling. However, Mone has fondly looked back at her time in WWE, saying on the Kick Rocks podcast:
“Sasha Banks, what a career. What an amazing career. The thing about that, it makes me even more excited to see what Mercedes Mone can do.”
Apart from her passion for wrestling, Mone has also ventured into acting. She made her acting debut as Koska Reeves in the second season of the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. She also appeared as Nikita in the action-thriller film, The Collective in 2023.
Snoop Dogg and Mercedes Mone share a close relationship despite their 20-year age gap. Mone looks up to Snoop as a legendary artist and one of her closest family members. In a conversation on Hot 97, she revealed:
"He's talking about me in his Hall of Fame speech, he's making my theme song and rapping on it."
Snoop Dogg rapped Mone to the ring in 2016 for her WWE Women's Championship Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 32.
In an appearance for Planet Comicon, Mone called her cousin an "icon" and noted:
"He's helped me throughout my whole life and we share the bond of loving wrestling it's the greatest feeling of all time."
Although Mone has a fair share of achievements under her wing, she looks up to her cousin and is inspired to become like him. She reported that she can only "dream" and "manifest" to reach the level where he's at.
Mercedes Mone was inspired to become a wrestler when she saw a match with Snoop Dogg.
According to her, Snoop has supported her through her journey, including rapping her entry into the ring and making a speech for her. While Mone's next acting project is not known, she's happy with her new partnership with AWE.
