Isis Gaston, professionally known as Ice Spice, is a breakout artist. She became passionate about music in high school and has not looked back ever since. She grew up in the Bronx with her parents, Charina Almanzar and Joseph Gaston. According to People, her parents split after she was born. Her parents have since welcomed children with different partners.
Ice Spice has not revealed much personal details about her five siblings. However, she has spoken about the bond she shares with them. Is Ice Spice the eldest sibling?
Ice Spice grew up in a mixed-family dynamic. In a conversation with Interview Magazine, she reflected on her upbringing and said,
"My parents were separated when I was two, and I have five siblings. I’m the oldest. It’s all separated. My parents had me and then they split up and had their own kids."
She added that spent a lot of time with her grandparents and cousins, as her "parents would be at work." She added,
"I have so many cousins, and after school, we’d all link up at my grandparents’ house."
Spice's siblings have stayed away from the public light even after her meteoric success. Her younger brother, Joey Gaston is a local celebrity himself and has around 40,000 followers on Instagram. He is signed as a model and a football player at Iona Prep.
In an interview with GQ in 2023, Joey revealed that sometimes people come to his game in orange wigs - a reference to his sister's hairstyle. When asked about Ice Spice, Joey said,
“I don’t look at her as Ice Spice. I look at her as Isis, my older sister.”
Joey added that Ice Spice is very protective as a sister. He said:
“Whether it’s football or girls ... School too, she's always giving me tips because she always has my back. I’m grateful to have her as a sister.”
In a conversation with Teen Vogue in June 2023, Spice said that she "loves her siblings." As the eldest sibling, Spice has experienced a fair share of responsibilities.
She told Zane Lowe in her Apple interview that she was told to behave in a particular way because her siblings were watching her. She added,
