West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar took to his Instagram on September 11 and dropped his newest single. While its official title remains undisclosed so far, media, influencers, and his fans are calling it Watch the Party Die. The song seemingly talks about his long-drawn rap battle with Canadian rapper Drake which he refers to right at the beginning, by rapping:

“I think it’s time to watch the party die/ This sh*t done got too wicked to apologize/ It’s different, get him whacked and disqualified.”

Later, he also threw indirect shots at DJ Akademiks in the lines:

“The radio personality pushing propaganda for salary/ Let me know when they turn up as a casualty.”

Elsewhere, he name-dropped Christian rappers Lecrae and Dee-1 as well as his longtime associates Terrace Martin and Jay Estrada.

“Terrace Martin said I'm mentally with layers, true/ I flood the market with my best regards, I paid your dues/ And so it's up, if you ain't one of ours, it's bad news,” Kendrick Lamar raps.

K-Dot later wrapped up his third and final verse by rapping:

“My n*gga Jay Estrada said I gotta burn it down to build it up/ That confirmation real as f*ck, it ain't too many real as us/ Lockin' into what I trust, lookin' outside/ The kids live tomorrow 'cause today, the party just/ Died.”

Here, in these lyrics, Kendrick Lamar briefly mentions his friendship with renowned saxophonist Terrace Martin as well as NBA trainer and fellow Compton native Jay Estrada, and how their words and actions influence him to be the best version of himself.
