American pop icon Katy Perry is the middle child of her parents Keith Hudson and Mary Hudson. The songstress has two siblings, an elder sister Angela Hudson Lerche, and a younger brother David Hudson.

The three moved around the country as kids with their Pentecostal pastor parents, setting up churches across the United States before settling down in Santa Barbara. Keith and Mary welcomed Angela in 1982, Katy in 1984 and David was born four years later in 1988.

Katy isn't the only Hudson kid with a penchant for music. While she has become a pop sensation for today's generation, David released his own music in the 2010s. Meanwhile, Katy and Angela started their own non-profit organization called Firework Foundation aiming to bring art to the backward communities.

Angela is married to Danish drummer and producer Svend Lerche and has two daughters. David, meanwhile, tied the knot with Kami Hudson and the two share two children.

Katy Perry's elder sister, Angela Hudson Lerche was born on December 7, 1982. Since childhood, Angela was inclined towards music and started taking singing lessons with Katy as a child. At nine, Angela bought a gospel demo for her house, which was the first time Katy Perry started considering music as a possible professional career.

In a 2010 interview with Rolling Stone, Angela recalled:

"Katy is a middle child, so she always tried to stand out. Our whole family is like that, in a way. We love entertaining people, putting on a show."

After Katy established herself as a pop singer, Angela often accompanied her on her tours. In fact, Angela met her husband Svend on one of Katy Perry's tours.

In 2009, Angela was the VIP coordinator in a tour whose opening act featured the band The Daylights. Svend Lerche was the lead drummer in the band.

“We tried to keep our romance a secret for the first few weeks, but it didn’t last long and people started to catch on,” Angela told Santa Barbara Magazine in a 2012 interview.

After two years of dating, Svend proposed and the two got married at El Capitan Canyon in Santa Barabara in May 2012. Katy Perry was the bridesmaid.

Congratulating them through a post on X, Katy Perry said:

"Shout out to my big sissy who sealed the deal this wknd & a lovely thank u to Amsale for our gorge bridesmaid dresses. We felt like fairies!"

Angela and Svend welcomed two daughters in February 2014 and September 2016, respectively.

The two sisters also run a non-profit organization called the Firework Foundation together. Launched in 2018, the organization helps underprivileged children get access to music and other forms of arts.

In a 2024 interview with PEOPLE, Katy Perry talked about her own childhood struggles while highlighting the motivation behind launching the non-profit.

"You want to talk about food stamps? I can talk about food stamps. You want to talk about food banks? I can talk about food banks. You want to talk about busking in the street as a teenager, hoping to make $20 to cover yourself, I can talk about that too," she recalled.

Angela, who is the president of the organization added:

"A lot of times it's reminding them that we didn't come from anything either. [Katy] wasn't born into some musical family that had all this access. She worked so hard for so many years to get to be where she is."

Katy and Angela work in tandem in the camps to support the kids in everything that embark on.

“We [want to] support these young people throughout their whole educational journey,” Katy said. “I’m so grateful for my gift as a musician, but if in a hundred years nobody knows Katy Perry or the song ‘Firework,’ but they know what the Firework Foundation is, then I’ll have fulfilled my purpose,” explained the Roar singer.

Angela has also made several red-carpet appearances with Katy in events like the 2019 Baby2Baby Gala, the 35th Annual Colleagues Spring Luncheon & Oscar de la Renta Fashion Show in April 2024, and Variety’s Power of Women event in September 2021.

In a 2021 interview with Variety, Katy named her big sister as the most influential woman in her life.

“She always had the best ethics and character — and values are so important to me,” the “E.T. She has a family of her own, and she always puts her family first, no matter what. And she encouraged me to follow through with starting the Firework Foundation, and helped me organize it and all the logistics as my co-creator on something that I’m really passionate about,” she said.

David is the youngest child of Mary and Keith Hudson and was born on August 11, 1988. David attended Dos Pueblos High School along with Katy and was also a part of the school's improv team.

David married Kami Brooke Hudson in 2018. David and Kami welcomed their first son, Legend Lais in August 2019. Their daughter Brave was born in 2023.

David, like her sister Katy, also pursued a career in music. He released his first EP, Dirty Face, in 2012 under the stage name HUDSON. His first album, The Revolution was released in 2013 (via Idolator).

In a 2012 interview with InTouch Weekly, David recalled how his sisters reacted to his debut musical endeavor, saying:

“Katy was really busy, but I finally bugged her enough and she’s like, ‘Fine, I’ll listen to it,’ and then she must have sent me ten text messages in a row, ‘Who wrote this?’ ‘Is this really you singing?’ ‘Where did this come from?’ ‘How did you get in the studio? It’s just kind of cool to see my sisters’ reactions. I look up to them and I love them."

David, like his big sisters, aspires to give back to society in the form of philanthropic endeavors. In a 2012 interview with Peter Dee (via Mix 931), David said:

“I want to take everything I do and benefit people in need all around the world, and not just through finances, but I want people to volunteer their time. I want people to get involved with me.”

David was also Katy Perry's Grammy date at the 2014 Grammy Awards. In 2008, David also accompanied his sister to the release party of her album, One of the Boys.

Both Angela and David have been featured in Katy Perry's documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me. Released in 2012, the documentary sketched Katy Perry's journey from a conservative orthodox family to the zenith of success as a pop icon.
