Larry and producer The Alchemist sat down for an exclusive Zoom interview with Rolling Stones magazine, in March 2023, where the duo recounted various personal instances from their process working together to create The Great Escape.
"He’s been here watching the whole evolution of this shit and still in the game. Al was somebody I looked up to musically, too. He’s done so much in hip-hop for him to be able to be relevant and jump on a new artist like myself and rap, make all the beats, and still got a crazy legacy." - Larry June praises The Alchemist.
The producer returned the praise by highlighting Larry June's work ethic and business mindset as something that inspired him to revisit his own career and musical perspectives.
He went on to praise the collaboration, citing how "easy" it was for both artists to work together when he stated:
"It’s fun to work with Larry. He’s really a scientist. He records his own s--t. I trust his opinion on music, too. I don’t look at him as just a rapper. He’s musical and records his own s--t. That’s what I mean by easy."
