The producer said that his first placement was with Gucci Mane in 2013 and since then he has worked with almost every artist one can think of in Texas. LilJuMadeDaBeat has worked with Beyonce on her track Thique from Renaissance, and with Gucci Mane on With My Pistol, among other artists. "Me & My Goons literally not even the single for that Plies album": Megan Thee Stallion's producer comments on Plies lawsuit against the rapper
According to a report by Rolling Stone dated November 7, 2024, American rapper Plies sued Soulja Boy, Cardi B, GloRilla, and Megan Thee Stallion, accusing them of sampling his 2008 track Me & My Goons without his permission. Details of the lawsuit filed in a California Federal Court stated that Plies claims Soulja Boy used an unauthorized sample of his track in his 2010 song Pretty Boy Swag.
According to Tribune's report dated November 7, 2024, the artists mentioned in the lawsuit didn't respond to the lawsuit at the time the article was published, however, Megan Thee Stallion's producer LilJuMadeDaBeat took to X to comment on Plies' claims in a tweet on November 7, 2024.
In his tweet, Julain said that the beat of Megan Thee Stallion's Wanna Be originated from Lil Wil's 2006 song My Dougie, which Big E produced. The producer mentioned that Big E is credited on Megan's track.
Julain also stated:
"For the Record Pretty Boy Swag is a remake of My Dougie as well. Soulja Boy is on the My Dougie Remix. Me & My Goons literally not even the single for that Plies album"
No legal action was taken against Soulja Boy when Pretty Boy Swag was released and 14 years later, Soulja Boy authorized the use of the sample of Pretty Boy Swag to Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla for their 2024 track Wanna Be.
After Wanna Be released, a remix of the song featuring Cardi B was dropped which also sampled Plies' track without his permission as per his claims in the lawsuit. Plies' lawsuit stated that Soulja Boy was given credit as a songwriter on Wanna Be instead of him.
As per legal documents obtained by TMZ, Plies sued Interscope Records, Collipark Productions, Collective Music Group, Universal Music Group, and Megan Thee Stallion's Hot Girl Productions.
The recent incident wasn't the first time Megan's producer LilJuMadeDaBeat complained about Spotify. In an interview with the Dallas Observer dated August 2022, the producer said that TikTok is his favorite app even though he doesn't get on it often. He said that he loves TikTok because Megan's music is popular on the platform.
Additionally, LilJuMadeDaBeat said that he'd rather have people listen to music on YouTube before they listen to it on Spotify citing that the platform pays the least amount of streaming money to artists.
