Singer Mina Caputo has recently disclosed his plans to change into a man and will undergo surgery for the same. According to The Advocate, he came out as a transgender in 2011. The artist has gained recognition over the years as a co-founder of the metal band Life of Agony.

Mina Caputo shared an Instagram post on November 27, 2024, with a video where he announced his plans for detransition. Mina said in the clip that he does not need clarification from anyone and continued:

"I'm solid in my heart man. I've always been f*cking solid. Always. Even in even at my worst times. Even when I was doing serious drugs in my 20s and my 30s because I hated my life. And I hated where I came from. I've always been f*cking solid."

Mina Caputo said he made the video because some people claim he looks like a man. He further stated that people don't have the habit of listening to the truth since they prefer to listen to the lies being spread about someone's identity.

"Yes, I'm off of hormones, six, seven years now and this January 2025 and I am – my surgery has been booked to remove my fake breasts and I will be lovingly living in my divine male self. I'll be physically completely detransitioned in 2025. I can't wait. I feel so free."

Mina Caputo mentioned that he is feeling free as he decides to de-transition. While he claimed that he was always uncomfortable with "gender dysphoria", he said that he has cured it now after many years. Furthermore, Caputo wrote in the caption that he wants to live his life in a way that allows all the moments and relationships to become a "truer, more beautiful version" of himself.

"I will not hold onto a single existing idea, opinion, identity, story, or relationship that keeps me from emerging freshly. I must let go of the shore in order to travel deeper and see father, again and again and again and again, until the final death and rebirth, right up until then."

Mina Caputo is popular for his work with Life of Agony

The Brooklyn, New York native has accumulated a huge fanbase for his association with the metal band since starting his career. A report by Kerrang in 2021 stated that Mina's parents had addiction issues, and he grew up under the guidance of his grandparents.

Mina Caputo struggled with gender dysphoria ever since he started going to school. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2017, Mina recalled his childhood by saying:

"My grandmother used to dress me to go to school, and I asked her, 'Why can't you dress me in girls' clothes?' 'You're not a girl. Don't tell Grandpa you want to dress up as a girl and go to school. He'll f*cking kill you. He'll kill me.'"

While speaking to Kerrang, Mina Caputo revealed that he began painting his fingernails in 1996 and later wore a women's fur coat for a performance on stage.

Mina Caputo developed an interest in music in his teenage days and started training himself in the same. According to Rolling Stone, he was inspired by artists such as Led Zeppelin and formed Life of Agony with his cousin Joey Z and musician Alan Robert in 1989. He told Kerrang that the journey of Life of Agony was not easy as he stated:

"The first five or 10 years of my career, we were abused. There were lots of comments, like I'm a gay junkie, because I looked differently and I sang differently. We were left out of scenes and we were left off bills."

Another artist, Sal Abruscato, joined the group, and they slowly began delivering hit projects. The band signed with Roadrunner Records and released their debut album, River Runs Red, in October 1993.
