Last month, rapper Lil Yachty revealed that he leaked his latest Drake collaboration Supersoak with the help of streamer and influencer Kai Cenat. He explained that the song sampled Mr_Hotspot’s 2022 single Goodness Gracious, which the latter refused to clear as it went against his religious beliefs.
In the wake of this, on August 3, musical artist and influencer Mr_Hotspot took to his TikTok Live and explained why he did not give a go-ahead for sample clearance to Lil Yachty and Drake.
He began by saying how he requested the rappers to record a “clean” version of Supersoak, to help the younger generation resonate with it.
"We recorded them a clean reference and we sent it to them so hopefully they rerecord the clean reference and we come out with the clean Goodness Gracious altogether.”
He added by saying he wanted to go through with the process and ensure that the results were good for both of their brands.
“I'm blessed to work with children so we just gotta make it clean for them… it’s a process but we appreciate you being patient we sent it in today they got it today and now those boys about to turn up."
Mr_Hotspot’s clarification comes in the wake of fans of both Drake and Lil Yachty requesting him on social media to clear the sample.

Exploring Mr_Hotspot’s statement in the wake of Lil Yachty’s Supersoak sample clearance issue
Kai Cenat shared a snippet of Drake and Lil Yachty’s newest unreleased collab Supersoak during his Instagram Live session on July 24 alongside the Twitch streaming platform. A week later, Lil Yachty appeared on the Andrew Schulz podcast Flagrant and revealed that the song wouldn’t be dropped soon as Mr_Hotspot decided to not “clear a sample” that was included in their song.
“I sent a song to Kai to leak. We couldn’t get the sample cleared so I just let Kai play it.”
When the host asked whether the song would ever be officially released, Yachty responded by saying, “No, but it’s everywhere.” He then explained how Supersoak sampled Mr_Hotspot’s Goodness Gracious, but the latter refused to clear it.
“He went down like a Christian path… it was crazy, everyone was like, Are you serious?”
As soon as Mr_Hotspot caught the wind of Lil Yachty’s remarks combined with requests from fans to clear the sample, he went on social media to clear the air. He said that he is “blessed to work with children” and thus wanted to make the track “clean for them.”
He added how he recorded a fresh version of Goodness Gracious and sent it to Drake and Yachty for them to sample in their latest track and was waiting for them to revert.
“Like we don't need no children getting whooped 'cause they said this or that you understand? And if you look at the backside it's the children who really running these views up so if we make sure both verses clean everybody coming clean everybody gonna benefit for sure.”
He also mentioned how he wasn’t trying to hold them back but just needed the morals correct.
For those unaware, as soon as Kai Cenat dropped the snippet of Supersoak, it created a stir with fans of rapper Soulja Boy, claiming that Drake shaded his former mentor through the verse,
“I’m watching the moves, playin’ it close / SOD, super soak.”
It was seemingly a dig at Soulja Boy’s 2007 single Super Soak and at his record label Stacks on Deck (SOD).
Soulja Boy too caught the wind of the matter and hopped on to his Instagram Live to warn Drake about trying to “disrespect” him or “sneak diss.” He added how he wished that the Toronto rapper’s intentions were harmless and were meant as an homage to him and his SOD crew.
