Ricky Martin, 52, was married to Syrian-Swedish artist Jwan Yosef, 39, from 2017 to 2023. Martin, who has four children, shares two kids, Lucia and Renn, with his ex, and became a single father to twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, through a surrogate in 2008. The artist opened up about being a dad during his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on June 10.

Speaking about his twins, he explained that they are homeschooled and that he allowed them to go in front of the stage when they were 5 or 6 years old. He then shed light on their "beautiful" reaction and said:

"I allowed them to go in front of the stage because, for me, I thought it was too overstimulating because they would always see me from backstage. So they went in front of the stage and when they came back they go 'Oh, got it Daddy. You are Ricky Martin.'"

He also added that now they have become critics of his performances.

"And now it's, 'Whatever Dad. You did it wrong, You gotta do that again.' Now it's a different story," he said.

He also said that he loves his children and wants them to "be honest" with him and not wear a mask.

The Livin' La Da Vida Loca singer met Jwan Yosef in 2015 after he came across his artwork. While speaking to Andy Cohen on Radio Andy, Ricky Martin said:

"I am scrolling and I see this beautiful piece of art and I'm like, 'Whoa, how cool! Who's this?' Then I start checking and all of a sudden I'm like, 'Ooh, ooh.' And then I wrote to him."

The two got married secretly in 2018 in a ceremony in Los Angeles, as per HELLO! Magazine. The couple welcomed their child Lucia into their lives in 2018 and Renn in 2019. While speaking to Out magazine about their family dynamic, Ricky Martin said:

"My kids ask me about having two daddies and I tell them we are a part of a modern family. This is a beautiful sense of freedom."

However, in July 2023, the couple made their divorce official in a joint statement to People and said:

"We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years."

The statement also emphasized that their "greatest desire" is to have a healthy family dynamic and continue to raise their kids together. They also mentioned that they wished to have a "relationship centered on peace and friendship" and preserve the "respect and love" they have for each other.
