Scooter Braun, who was the music manager for artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, took to Instagram on June 17 to announce his retirement. After a 23-year-long career, the 42-year-old mentioned that this "chapter has come to an end."

"So yes, it's been 23 years. And yes, this chapter has come to an end. But the great Berry Gordy once told me 'young man, it never ends the way you wanted, but it doesn't mean it didn't happen' That wisdom has proven to be correct," he said.

He added:

"I never saw how this chapter would end, hell, I never even saw it happening. But it did. And I will cherish every moment of it. I made my plan...but it turns out I like God's plan better. Cheers!"

In the statement, Scooter Braun also mentioned that although he started his career at a young age and loved it, the realization hit as his children got older. Braun has three children: Levi, Jagger, and Hart, who he shares with his ex-wife, Yael Cohen.

Yael Cohen is a South African-born Canadian activist who founded the charity F**K Cancer in 2009 after her mother was diagnosed with cancer. She has a degree in Political Science from the University of British Columbia. As per Forbes, Yael is on the Board of Advisors for the popular dating app, Bumble.

Scooter Braun's family and career explored

Scooter Braun started his career as a party organizer while studying at Emory University in Atlanta. At 20 years old, Braun was hired to plan after-parties for Anger Management Tour in 2001, which featured Ludacris and Eminem. He then dropped out of university and began his career with Jermaine Dupri's So So Def Recordings.

Scooter Braun's managerial skills gained recognition after discovering Justin Bieber in 2008 via his YouTube video. He also managed Carly Rae Jepsen, Demi Lovato, Psy, Asher Roth, and others. However, he became the talk of the town when artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande cut ties with him. He also received backlash as he and Taylor Swift had a falling out, after which she began re-recording her albums to claim the rights back to her masters.

Braun is also the CEO of Hybe America, the North American subsidiary of Hybe Corporation, a South Korean entertainment company. Hybe Corporation acquired Braun's Ithaca Holdings in 2021. While talking about his position as a CEO alongside Bang Si-hyuk, Scooter said in his statement:

"My brilliant partner these past 3 years, Chairman Bang has a vision I truly believe in. But even beyond that he has become a true friend who understands where I must be in my life these days. And that is a father first, a CEO second, and a manager no more."

Scooter Braun has three children with Yael Cohen: Jagger, Levi, and Hart. He and Cohen tied the knot in July 2014 and were married for seven years. They finalized their divorce in September 2022, after Braun filed for it in July 2021, as per Us Weekly. The duo welcomed Jagger into their lives about a year after they got married. Levi was born in 2016, and in 2018, they welcomed Hart, their daughter, into the world.

When they parted ways, the duo agreed to join custody, with Scooter paying Yael child support every month, as per Hello! Magazine. While talking about his kids and the reason he's quitting music managing, Scooter Braun, added:

"For my entire adult life I played the role of an artist manager on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And for 20 years I loved it. It's all I had known. But as my children got older, and my personal life too some hits, I came to the realiztion that my kids were 3 superstars I wasn't willing to lose."

He mentioned that he could no longer justify the sacrifices he was "once willing to make."

While talking about his family on Ashley Graham's Pretty Big Deal podcast in 2020, Scooter Braun said:

"But I found that people who have a foundation of family - whether it be with the family they make with their friends, the family they start of the family they already had - they're able to sustain a lot better because that's what really matters."

He also spoke about his home environment and kids, saying that when he comes home, he feels he's "enough," and work issues become an "inconvenience and not a problem."
