BlocBoy JB has been trending in the headlines after his arrest on October 1, 2024. The rapper has gained recognition over the years for his mixtapes such as Grape Juice, Loco, and Simi.
Multiple charges have been imposed on JB after being taken into custody such as unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. The accusations emerged out of a situation where he was discovered sleeping inside his car at a stoplight in Memphis, Tennessee.
BlocBoy JB's car was first seen by an officer working for the Memphis Police Department. The cop allegedly waited for some time and while the vehicle did not move, he approached it, discovering JB passed out with his foot on the brake.
The legal issue became worse after the police officer found a black handgun in possession of JB along with a bag that had marijuana. The artist was transported to the Shelby County jail on a $7,500 bond, and further updates are currently awaited.
Notably, this is not the first time when BlocBoy had a confrontation with the authorities. Back in May 2019, he was arrested on similar charges along with several others as part of an investigation. JB was scheduled to appear at the Beale Street Music Festival on the day of his arrest and while speaking to Fox 13 Memphis, his attorney Murray Wells stated:
"They weren't looking for him, and there was no warrant for him personally. They may have been looking for other suspects on the premises."
BlocBoy was taken into custody in February of the same year and he reportedly surrendered to the authorities after being charged with possession of drugs and a handgun.

Also known as James Lee Baker, he has worked with record labels such as Bloc Nation, Foundation, and Interscope. The 28-year-old did not have a normal childhood due to his involvement with the gang, Grape Street Watts Crips.
BlocBoy JB's rapping career dates back to 2012 when he began releasing music through SoundCloud. Although he started releasing mixtapes in 2016, his debut album came out around four years ago, titled FatBoy. This was followed by Bacc 2 Da Blac in 2022.
He additionally became popular for his single Shoot which contributed to the popularity of a dance move where a person tries to rub his or her belly alongside patting the head. While speaking to The Fader magazine in 2018, JB was questioned on how he developed the dance form and said:
"When I play my own music I just do anything. I was in the mirror looking at myself and I got to winding that motherf*cker up and hitting that motherf*cker, just like, 'Oh, that sh*t hard!' I started hitting it in the video and it just popped."
BlocBoy JB also recalled how the single was created, saying that he was in bed recording something and began yelling the word "shoot" at one point. He continued:
"I said it four times and then my cousin came in and was like, 'Bruh, that sh*t is not wassup, loco.' And I'm like, 'N*gga, f*ck you mean, n*gga?!' And I put it on loop like three, four times and we got to dancing to it."
Apart from this, he has a compilation album in his credits, titled Gangsta Art. Furthermore, he collaborated with Empire Dott for a project, Empire Bloc, which was released in 2018.
