Nicki Minaj is the self-proclaimed queen of rap, and much like any other rapper, she has had her share of feuds with fellow rappers. Among some of her rival rappers are Lil Kim, Remy Ma, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, and Cardi B.

Minaj and Cardi B's feud started after their joint appearance in Motorsport in 2017. A year later, the latter threw a shoe at Nicki Minaj at Harper Bazaar's ICONS Fashion Week party on September 7, 2018.

Roughly a month after the shoe-throwing incident at the party, Cardi B was interviewed by W Magazine, where she explained her action as a result of Minaj's comment on her mothering skills, adding:

"I love my daughter. I’m a good-a*s f*cking mom. So for somebody that don’t have a child to like that comment? So many people want to say that party wasn’t the time or the place, but I’m not going to catch another artist in the grocery store or down the block."

Nicki Minaj said on her podcast that she was "mortified" by the shoe-throwing incident

Elsewhere in her W Magazine interview, the Please Me rapper hinted at her beef with Nicki Minaj being older than the shoe-throwing incident at the ICONS Fashion Week party.

"For a while now she’s been taking a lot of shots at me. I spoke to her twice before, and we came to an understanding. But she kept it going."

The Bodak Yellow rapper revealed that it was Minaj's act of liking (and then unliking) a tweet that hinted at her "mothering skills," that acted as the last straw for her.

The 31-year-old also confessed how she sacrificed her Bruno Mars tour, which she "was going to make millions off" to stay with her daughter.

However, Minaj's side of the story was quite different from that of the younger rapper. On September 10, 2018, she spoke about the incident on her Queen radio show, stating:

"The other night, I was a part of something so mortifying and so humiliating to go through. The way they passed by looking at this disgusting commotion, I will never forget. I was mortified."

The Hey Mama rapper then denied having said anything about Cardi B's parenting skills, which the latter had claimed to be the reason behind her shoe-throwing act, revealing,

"I would never talk about anyone's child or parenting. I don't care about anyone's parenting. I don't give a s--t and it's so crazy to me that people always need to make Onika the bad guy."

Minaj continued:

"I just want to let the world know that Onika Tanya Maraj would never, has never, and will never speak ill of anyone's child."

The Swalla rapper called it "clown s***," and then added that she was "not a clown." Minaj also called her "angry" and "sad" on the show, continuing:

"This is not funny and this is not about attacking. This is about getting this woman some f***ing help. This woman is at the best stage in her career and she's out here throwing bottles and throwing shoes? Who the f**k is going to give her a f**king intervention?"

Towards the end of the podcast, Nicki Minaj also admitted that she had told Cardi B to her face, "you gotta get thick skin baby girl," in the past, and that the 31-year-old should be "happy" and "proud" with her overflowing blessings instead of paying attention to seemingly insignificant things.

Both Nicki Minaj and Cardi B's upcoming albums are currently a work in progress. Minaj recently announced that instead of releasing a deluxe version of her fifth album, she'll now release a sixth studio album - Pink Friday 3. Meanwhile, Cardi B has confirmed that her sophomore studio album will drop by 2024.
