Why was Disclosure’s London Boiler Room set canceled? Details explored

Disclosure's London Boiler Room set was to be held at the Lee Valley Showground in Waltham Cross in London, UK, on August 25, 2024. The set was a surprise set and was put in a smaller tent by Boiler Room organizers. However, the set was canceled due to a crowd surge that began just five minutes into their set.

Boiler Room later stated in a general press statement just after the set was canceled on the same date:

"It became clear five minutes into their (Disclosure's) set that a big proportion of festivalgoers wanted to get into the tent to see them, so as a safety precaution, the set was halted."

Disclosure also elaborated on the cancellation with a statement on their official Instagram stories on August 25, 2024, currently no longer available:

"Sorry to everyone who came to Boiler Room today. Unfortunately, it's out of our control but the festival has deemed it unsafe for us to play due to crowd surges. We worked really hard on the set for months, flew from Los Angeles just to do it and are honestly heartbroken we can't play. We won't be coming back on, but hope to see you soon again London."

According to eyewitness testimonies obtained by MixMag, the crowd surge started nearly half an hour before the set was set to start, with festival patrons pushing through the barricades and creating a forcible gap, leading to the above-mentioned crowd surge. After Disclosure's set was canceled, the electronic duo went on to perform at a pop-up DJ set at the North London record shop, KINDRED.

Disclosure is next set to perform a few shows in North America and the UK. The dates and venues for these shows are listed below:

Disclosure released their latest studio album, Alchemy, on July 14, 2023. The album charted at number 135 on the UK album chart. More recently, Disclosure released their single She's Gone, Dance On, on May 29, 2024. In their release announcement post on Instagram on the same date, the duo thanked their fans and elaborated briefly on the single, stating:

"She’s Gone, Dance On is finnnaaaaaally out todaaaayyy!! Thank you all for your patience with this one… We actually started working on this back in 2017, so if you think it’s been a while for you, imagine our pain!!"

The duo continued:

"since we debuted it late last year in clubs the response from DJs and you lot has been insaneeee. Truly can’t thank you all enough for the love… there’s been so many moments of the track doing the rounds all over the world, but here’s a few of our favourites to date. ENJOOOOOYYY!!!"

The duo is best known for their debut studio album, Settle, which was released on May 13, 2013. The album was a chart-topper on the UK album chart and was certified as a multi-platinum record after its release.
