On November 28, 2024, an X user @Mediittoo posted that Drake had reportedly unfollowed Timbaland. The tweet featured the screenshot of an Instagram post's comment section where Tim had shared a GIF with a man's face. The tweet further claimed that Drizzy unfollowed Tim after "his bigoted comment."

The details of the specific Instagram post remained unknown at the time of publishing this article. However, the Instagram post was reportedly about the One Dance rapper's accusations against UMG over Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us. According to AllHipHop, the post hinted at Drizzy's feud with Lamar.

As seen in the screenshot, a netizen @lil_c.s.619.44 wrote:

“Not a rap battle BUT if he would’ve won the rap battle, he wouldn’t be suing. Make it make sense. You can’t create a storm and cry when it rains.”

Tim replied to this person's comment with a GIF, which many considered to be anti-semitic. Internet users speculated that Timbaland's anti-semitic GIF was a supposed reference to Drake's mother being a Canadian Ashkenazi Jew.

Netizens called out Tim for posting the GIF and expressed discontent over his actions via X:

"Wow @Timbaland you are better than that. I expected more of you than to participate in slurs based of a person’s background especially coming from a black man. He didn’t choose for his mother to be Jewish. Find a better argument this is pathetic." an internet user tweeted.
An X user commented "Add timbaland to the opp list + being openly antisemitic. I hope Drake see how deep this hatred is for him, if he doesn’t already!"
"Timbaland takes an Anti Semitic shot at Drake" another X user mentioned.

One of the X posts by @aubreysattorney also read, "Could Drake win a $2 billion lawsuit and declare war on the music industry?" For the unversed, Drizzy recently filed two legal actions against Universal Music Group along with Spotify and iHeartRadio on November 25, 2024. The rapper's lawyers accused UMG of artificially boosting the streams of Kendrick Lamar's diss track Not Like Us.

On November 27, podcaster Mal claimed in his YouTube channel that the Canadian rapper will reportedly seek "upwards of $2 billion dollars" from UMG.

"They helped me during my darkest moment"—Timbaland comments on Drake and Jay-Z helping him through tough times

Drizzy and Timbaland have been acquainted with one another and have also worked together on Tim's track Say Something in 2009. Over the years, Timbaland has mentioned the Canadian rapper in multiple interviews.

In an appearance on Shannon Sharpe's podcast in May 2023, Tim talked about his OxyContin addiction and mentioned that Drizzy and Jay-Z helped him during his darkest moments. Tim called Jay-Z "a prophet" and complimented him saying that the latter raised him in the music business.

Discussing how Drizzy treated him the same way that Jay-Z did, Timbaland said:

“Even Drake told me. That’s why I’m like, ‘These guys are special to the world.’ Now, once they give you the information, it’s up to you to use it. I didn’t come out until the darkness, man, and that’s why I say, it’s all love with these guys. They helped me during my darkest moment.”
