Gangsta singer Kehlani recently opened up about her stance on former boyfriend YG's relationship with her friend Saweetie. The singer appeared for an interview with Hot 97 on June 25, 2024, wherein she was labeled as the "cool ex" by interview host Nessa.
Talking about the situation of her former partner's rumors of dating her friend, Kehlani stated:
“Well because I’m a lesbian, so why would I care about any male exes? I also don’t care about what any of my exes are doing – male, female, anything. My goal is everybody to be happy."
The Good Life singer mentioned that even when she's with someone and they decide that they're not mutually happy, it is only fair that they go be with people who make them happy. Furthermore, in her recent interview, she also shared that she loved Saweetie.

Kehlani publicly came out as lesbian in April 2021 via TikTok. According to Billboard, in a now-deleted clip, the singer told her followers that she is ready to be publicly identified as lesbian than just queer- a term she has identified with since 2018. As for YG's relationship with Saweetie, the two sparked rumors of dating in March 2023 and confirmed their relationship in May 2023. While there were speculations of the pair splitting up in January 2024, YG put them to rest by uploading a video of him and Saweetie cozying up during Beyonce's Renaissance Tour.
Commenting on YG and Saweetie's relationship in her recent interview with Hot 97, Kehlani mentioned that she finds Saweetie cute and fine. She also mentioned that they hang out together and also have a song together. The two female singers collaborated on the track ICY GRL in 2018.
Calling them cute, Kehlani stated:
“And they make so much sense. Like knowing them both, I’m like, you know what? I really like this. I’ve told him like, ‘I like this a lot. Y’all look cute together.’”
Moreover, the rapper mentioned that she is not the jealous type of ex stating that she has "too much pride for that". The Beautiful Lies singer shared that acting jealous is embarrassing for her and that if she was bothered she won't let the other person know which is why she "only crashed out once".
