Nicki Minaj is a self-proclaimed queen of rap, and her dedicated fan following deserves just as much credit as her music. Minaj has over 227 million followers on Instagram, more than any other rap artist—both males and females.
The Super Freaky Girl rapper indulges her fans frequently, talking to them and sharing with them important musical updates through live sessions.
In one such-like session three years ago, the 41-year-old met Sachin - a California-based guy who repped her fan page. Nicki Minaj's live session chat with Sachin - which took place in October 2021 - soon went viral on TikTok because of how passionately the guy talked about his work ethic.
Nicki Minaj offered Sachin a job on her IG live video in 2021
Before Sachin joined the Instagram Live chat with Nicki Minaj, the rapper was talking about hiring new talents on her team and was chatting with her fans with that prospect in mind.
Once Sachin was on the chat, Minaj asked him where he lived and whether he was looking for a job. When the guy responded in affirmative, she asked him what he did, and Sachin said:
"um my background is media, I do a lot of media projects and I could be a good project manager... I've done a project manager for about a year for celebrities and high-end clients."
Appearing surprised at hearing this, Minaj next asked Sachin what his strong suit was, to which he responded that he was a "people's person". The Swalla rapper then asked him about his zodiac sign, which was Leo.
"I believe I'm the perfect candidate, I don't bulls***t. Work is work. I'm there to work. If you need me to do something I'll get the job done."
Minaj then asked him, "And you ain't gonna be into the gossip?" to which Sachin said:
"No, I don't gossip. I hate drama. I hate toxic people. I will shut it down."
Nicki Minaj then gave Sachin a situation, saying,
"Okay, so if I hire two assistants and one of them was trying to get some gossip on the lee-low, what would you do?"
To that, Sachin replied:
"I would be like, um that's not, that's irrelevant. I'll be like let's focus on what we need to focus right now. You need to get your music done. You need to go on the studio. You don't need to worry about them people. You get your work done on time. I will make sure you get your project done on time, because that's what I'm here for."
After hearing all that, Minaj called Sachin "the truth," appreciating his dedication, and then asked about his family.
Upon revealing they were from India, Nicki asked Sachin to give them her love. She also told him she would think about giving him the job before exchanging pleasantries, after which Sachin hung up.
After Sachin's call was disconnected from the live session, the Starships rapper talked some more with the rest of the Barbz, asking them whether she should hire or fire him, to which most of the people watching answered with, "Hire him." The Instagram live session was joined by over 100k Barbz.
Nicki Minaj's husband recently faced a backlash from Barbz
Nicki Minaj's popularity in her fan base can sometimes backfire on her as well. The rapper's fans are highly invested in her life, which means that nothing she or people related to her say goes unnoticed.
A recent example was when Minaj was joined by her husband, Kenneth Petty, on a live Instagram session recently. On the live, the 41-year-old was telling her fans not to let anybody steal their joys when Petty added:
"that's right, especially f****ts and f*** boys."
The gay slur used by Nicki's husband was noticed by a large number of her fans, many of whom expressed their disapproval of it on X (formerly Twitter). Some users also criticized Minaj for not reacting to her husband's slurs when a large portion of her fan community is LGBT.
This isn't the first time Petty has received backlash online. His registered s*x offender status has often sparked negative comments about him on social media in the past.
