Nicki Minaj was recently accused of battery, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress in a new lawsuit filed by an individual named Brandon Garrett. The charges are linked to an incident that happened in April 2024 when Minaj was busy with her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, as stated by Variety.
The legal documents, which were obtained by TMZ on January 3, 2025, claimed that Garrett was serving as a manager during the tour and he was reportedly hit by Minaj a few times.
Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj's attorney Judd Burstein responded to the allegations while speaking to Variety the same day. Burstein said that he is not aware of any such lawsuit or allegations for now and continued:
"However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty's favor."
As per Billboard, the alleged lawsuit stated that Brandon filed a report to the Chicago Police Department after the alleged assault incident since he was scared for his safety. Garrett reportedly stayed inside his room for a few days and later filed a formal police report after going back to Detroit.
On the other hand, Nicki has also not shared any statement related to the allegations made by Brandon Garrett.
Brandon Garrett claimed that Nicki Minaj shouted at him inside the dressing room: Lawsuit allegations explained in detail
A report by Billboard stated that Garrett approached the Los Angeles Superior Court to sue Minaj. The court documents elaborated on the alleged incident involving the 42-year-old rapper, which happened at the backstage of the Midtown Detroit-based Little Caesars Arena.
According to Page Six, Brandon Garrett is seeking damages in the lawsuit, which claimed that his hat fell on the ground after Nicki Minaj reportedly hit him.
The documents revealed that the incident happened on April 21, 2024, when Garrett was called to Nicki's dressing room, as per Billboard. The Steven Universe star was reportedly angry at Brandon after he asked a hospitality manager named Luke Montgomery to get Minaj's prescriptions.
Brandon was allegedly questioned by Nicki's former manager Deb Antney on why he did not go to get the prescriptions. Garrett replied by saying that Nicki Minaj wanted it immediately and since he was busy with her at the venue to help with her dressing before her performance, he opted to send Montgomery.
Minaj reportedly began screaming at Garrett and said:
"Are you f*cking crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f*cking mind and if my husband was here, he would knock out your f*cking teeth. You're a dead man walking. You just f*cked up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I'll make sure of it."
According to Billboard, Nicki Minaj then reportedly spoke to Luke Montgomery to look for the prescriptions in his phone but could not find them. Nicki reportedly took the phone to check it by herself and then went close to Garrett, following which she allegedly hit him on the "right side of the face."
Nicki Minaj also allegedly hit Brandon in the right wrist at the same time and told the latter to leave the room. The alleged incident left a different kind of impact on Garrett as he stayed inside a restroom for several hours and contacted his fiancé. Garrett was then reportedly restricted from traveling in the tour bus and he was left behind in Detroit.
As mentioned, Nicki's manager has replied to the lawsuit by saying that he does not have any knowledge about it. However, a response from Deb Antney is currently awaited and detailed information is yet to be revealed on whether Garrett was able to get his belongings after being stranded in Detroit.
